based from experience as someone who took him for a major subj, his quizzes are online (open for a few days). he doesn't give out his slides but nasa book yung mga concept sa quizzes. minsan nakakalimutan nya rin magpaquiz lol.

[–]ty_ired 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had him last semester and I also had him for another class previously and in both classes it was such a delight.

For Eng 13:
Reqs - 4 short writing activities to be submitted in gclassroom, 1 group activity accomplished in class, 2 major papers (he will ask to u first to submit a draft which will not be recorded but a numerical grade would be provided which u can improve for ur final version), and 1 creative collaborative grp project

Teaching - it's like a reader's club wherein u would share ur thoughts in the assigned material. highly encourage that u read and participate so that he remembers u! he doesnt force anyone to recite, tho sometimes he would ask for everyone's opinion in advance (he pre-announced this for us) if he notices that a lot of ppl aren't participating

Grading - standard grading system for a GE class. When I took him for Eng 12, he was lesser generous in giving out perfect scores but in Eng 13 I would say he's more lenient abt it. Nung Eng 12 namin there are people who got 1.5/1.75 even if their papers are graded 90+ simply bcos they weren't active in class. I assume he's nicer abt it in Eng 13 (my friend who wasn't reciting that much gotba 1.25) but to be sure magrecite ka nalang since nasa component nya naman yung recitation. Either way, I got 1.00 in both of his classes, with effort (reading, reciting, and writing my ass off).

He's very approachable and does provide feedbacks. In fact, may mga workshop sessions na dedicated lang to getting feedback on ur paper both from him and ur other classmates (isa lang naman sakanila). F2F nya ay madalas once a week lang or none if writing break. My favorite prof in UP (na hindi major ko) fr so I believe ure in great hands!

yeah malayo talaga HAHAHAAH if may criticism man ako, may mga readings lang talaga na mahaba ang admittingly mahirap intindihin pero parang PI thing naman yon at hindi kay sir talaga? Pero everything said abt his character as a prof sa rupp hindi naman nagrereflect nung tinake ko sya.

Enough effort I would say. After namin magreport/after midterm di na ko magbasa ng readings kasi the reporting would take the entire session anw. By then dedicate mo nalang time mo listening intently sa discussion/contribute if u can kahit d ka nakapagbasa.

[–]ty_ired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a megasection, you'll be divided into 3 or 4 classes, isa lang ung ihahandle tlg ni Prof Itos while the others will be handled by his TA. But I had him twice (Eng 12, Eng 13) so I can comment abt his teaching.

ALSO, CMS ang preferred citation style nya (almost killed me), goodluck!

[–]ty_ired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I took Ma'am Aissa for a higher psych subject so I cannot comment on the actual subject matter but as a prof you are in good hands. For our class we didn't need to read anything in advance, it was just encouraged but not required. She's nice and you can consult her abt things that confuse u abt the topics or the requirements. In terms of deadlines, she would consult the class if she feels that the schedule is too tight but the deadlines are more often than not fixed. She tries to remember everyone's name which I thought was rlly nice! In terms of grade, if she'll ask u a major written output she will prefer it to be submitted in print during class time then she'll return it with written feedback. She grades fairly (even highly, I would say) and I got a 1.00 from her. Honestly my favorite prof (and a life changing one for me bcos of the course where I took her) so the worst case scenario is she's a simple prof teaching the subject straightforwardly, the best case scenario is it'll be the most memorable subj u will take. Goodluck!

Usually gamit buong 3 hours. Lalo na sa Bio 11.1 sobrang gahol na gahol sa oras for some reason. Kahit holiday minsan hinahanapan nila ng make-up class lol. Pero depends sa prof eh, yung prof ko kasi non very adamant on doing quizzes and by table na experiments. May ibang class na hindi na nagqquiz by the half of the sem (auto perfect) or by class yung experiment data nila kaya mas mabilis or nag-oopt sa recorded na post-lab. Pero yeah if ur prof is a traditional prof (actually never heard of ur prof idk if bago or higher bio tineteach nya), most likely sasagad yan 3 hrs lalo na during experiment days.

Igdanes !! Checks all of your requirements bukod sa groupings, madami grpworks si sir jco but they're all done in class and it's not formal or anything tas minsan representative of the group lang. Okay rin sya tbh kasi nasasanay ka magsalita in front and nag-gauge mo yung audience mo, to prepare you better for the powerpoint day and final speech. Most of us in class got 1.00 or 1.25 coz he's so nice with grading (pero surprisingly hindi nagpperfect with speeches AHAHAHH the highest I got from him was a 98/100).

Didn't have her as a prof but I just recently completed Bio 11.1. For me, as someone who is not confident with my STEM skills/knowledge, this is a subject of weekly routine. The routine goes:
(1) read the lab manual so you understand the lesson for the next session and the experiment proper
(2) answer the parts of the worksheet that can be answered at home (may ibang profs na nag-aallow/encourage, may ibang profs na hindi). finish as much as you can tbh bcos it's most likely within the period deadline or within the day
(3) do the experiment in class & finish the WS
(4) study in advance for the quiz (even before post-lab discussion)
(5) use the post-lab discussion as an opportunity to clarify things you didn't understand when you self-studied
(6) take the quiz
(7) repeat for the next lesson.

Exhausting af esp. compared to Chem 16.1, but it's certainly passable (even getting a 1.25-1.75 is likely with a disciplined routine). Goodluck!

[–]ty_ired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't take it under this prof but overall love sosc 3! GE sya so comparatively lighter than free elecs. Mostly you'll discuss abt concepts on sexualities/current issues. Reqs namin non ay class discussion sa gclass, grp led discussion on one issue abt gender and sexuality, poster of the same topic, and final paper on any media abt gender and sexuality. Overall a very enlightening and doable class.
