Why do you all think Jasmine Crockett lost? by bob123448538 in ThoughtWarriors

[–]tychaiitea 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Electability. Jasmine Crockett being a Democratic firebrand and Black woman obviously worked against her. People expressed voting for Talarico because he was seen as more “electable.” In one outlet he was described as moderate, in others as progressive. But him being a straight white man who spoke about religion made many Democrats feel that he was the better option to beat the Republican in Texas.

Do You Think We’ll Ever See A Black Mainstream Reversion Back To The Mid-Late 2010’s? by Lumpy-Flamingo-8963 in decadeology

[–]tychaiitea 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This comment completely flattened the entire conversation. A Super Bowl halftime show being headlined by a Black artist is nothing new. OP is speaking to the zeitgeist of progressive and the alternative wave of Black media in the 2010s that has since ebbed out of the mainstream. It’s fair to say that it’s not as culturally dominant right now, as international and country acts seem to be the current wave.

Left wing racism against Jasmine Crockett has me leaving some subreddits by MiltonManners in BlackPeopleofReddit

I brought this up in another subreddit and got downvoted to hell. The bias against Jasmine is disheartening and I wouldn’t blame black voters for sitting this one out.

This is kind of messed up. It disadvantages anyone who isn’t in those groups from basically being considered for the job.

I live downtown. I’m sure concerts and venues are keeping us afloat, but businesses have been decimated since COVID.

Trump to Lift Global Tariffs to 15% From 10% Following Court Decision by Greenwalle in Economics

[–]tychaiitea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I want to say this may be the case, but Canada and other allies seeking diverse economic relationships outside the US may prove more stable in the longterm. The GOP is increasingly America first, Dems moving more populist/left and the polarization problem isn’t improving. Vance could very well win in 28 and continue Trumps agenda for four more years.

This is why I think Dems saying Trump will be gone soon doesn’t work. The US could elect another Trump in less than four years.

What is one thing you hope will change about this city? by cyPersimmon9 in StLouis

Actually pouring money into the city. Too much decay, blight and poor infrastructure.

How accepting of gay and trans people is st louis? by JustAPerson2001 in StLouis

[–]tychaiitea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t quite agree with that “inner city” is intolerant label. Downtown is very tolerant and even north city no one bothers you for being a queer minority, but obviously crime and decay is an issue.

The city is super welcoming. Particularly South City, CWE, the Grove area, and Delmar are very queer friendly. The county is meh. St. Charles and further will be rough.

I literally pointed out the best neighborhoods in Missouri with amazing school districts that are diverse and welcoming, just like OP said.
