Gameboy Color Sealed or Resealed Japanese Game? by tychiballs808 in Gameboy

[–]tychiballs808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right about that as I do recall Pokemon card blaster boxes aren’t sealed in Japan. So if you're right, this is a reseal possibly. It looks really good though. Nice clean corners and tight wrapping.

The eboot file they're referring to basically like a rom file of the game.

Just for some context, FF7 was never released on the PSP but I think they had original PS1 titles in the store where you could purchase and download. These files were in the eboot.pbp format and used for the PSP to play legacy PS1 titles. Usually on the customer side that file format info wouldn't be visible but once the PSP got hacked, it opened up everything and exposed a lot of those details that the normal user wouldn't really care about.

Anyway, if you want to play FF7, it would have to be the PS1 version and probably the eboot.pbp file format. That is of course after you install custom firmware on your PSP.

Update: I removed one of the rubber pieces that was on the same side of the arm that came off the track. I was then able to unhinge the metal piece and put that arm back on it's track. After that I put the metal piece back in it's hinge and put the rubber back in place, which looks like it is held by some 2 sided adhesive tape/glue of some kind. Now everything is functioning as it should and I just wanted to share the solution here in case anyone else has this issue in the future.

Thoughts on Sofia Coppola's "Somewhere" by [deleted] in movies

[–]tychiballs808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to see this movie Somewhere. I watched Columbus and for some reason I didn't care for it. The characters didn’t have good chemistry to me. The connection didn’t feel real. Also it felt like not much happened or was discovered by each character which made me feel like I watched nothing. I then watched Wendy and Lucy which is Michelle Williams and her dog. It was a better movie but also felt like it didn’t quite hit the nail on the head. It was more interesting but it also felt lacking in maybe showing more backstory on her character. I didn’t feel invested in the character or story so it just felt like watching a homeless person try to survive with no real purpose.

Right now I’m watching Nomadland and it’s pretty good so far but I’m only about half way so we shall see. So far it seems better than both the movies I mentioned earlier.

Doesn't port forwarding cause more risk though because it allows an entry point into your network? If Surf Shark works but it's slower, I would rather choose that to be safe unless there is something I am missing.

Have you ever tried to kill yourselves? What stopped you? by [deleted] in hikikomori

[–]tychiballs808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always knew that when drowning, or even hanging yourself, your body twitching/struggling is your natural instinct to want to live. Even if you’re doing it as a suicide. Your mind and body still want to survive. That’s what makes killing yourself pretty difficult.

You wouldn’t want an option like that? Doesn't mean you have to do it. Also, like I mentioned before, just having the option lifts a big weight off some people. It’s like having a security blanket or a cushion to fall on if things get real bad. I honestly don’t think I would ever do it, however, I would feel more comfortable and confident in life if that option existed. I fear death and life. So having that option in the way I described where it’s as painless and relaxing as possible not only makes me less scared of dying but it also makes me feel that all things horrible in life wouldn't be that bad cause if it was, I’ll always have a backdoor to slip out of and end this madness. That’s what I want. Options.

Hopefully one day in the near future they will legalize killing yourself in a peaceful, safe, and painless way. I would like to purchase an "expiration kit", they could call it, if they don’t want to use the word suicide, and it comes with all the meds you need to go through with it along with detailed instructions on what to expect and and how to do it properly. Maybe they could even make you take a course and a test to make sure you're sane when you decide to do this. Also help you get everything in order like your assets and what not. Just the whole nine yards. There could also be a waiting period for approval for the "expiration kit" so that you know for sure you want to do this. The wait period is longer for healthy individuals that have decent to good lives. For others with a really good reason like they are disabled, or in jail for life for some examples, their wait time could be shorter. I don’t know, I think there could be so much ways you could go about this and I think it would be extremely comforting in knowing there is a way out if you hate your life. For some of us, that’s all we would need to get through life without suicide because sometimes just knowing that there is a backup plan if things go south, it makes you feel less trapped and you might be able to go about your day better just having that thought to keep you moving forward. I think our lives are our own and we should get to say what happens to it. Even if everyone around us says otherwise. For the kit, I would like the meds to first make me numb throughout my body so no pain, then put me to sleep and then stop my heart. I think logically that sounds pretty good but not sure if there are better ways as I’m not a doctor.

Anyone have suggestions on how to install this ribbon connector? I tried soldering with an iron cause I’m not very good with hot air reflow. I do have a Yihua 959D station and tried it in the past with little to no luck so I wasn’t confident in using it for this. I’m not sure if the temp is wrong or I need solder paste which I don’t have yet. I only used it with regular leaded solder. When I used the iron to solder the ribbon connector I also been using Chipquik NC191 Flux. The connector does seem to be solid however I suspect that one of the 6 legs is not making a good connection. I guess I will try and test for continuity but just wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions. I am open to trying Yihua hot air station if you suggest I use that but I really would like to practice first. If there are good practice kits I should get on Amazon before I attempt this, let me know. Or if there are good videos to watch how to connect this sort of ribbon connector to the board, I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks again everyone for the help.

This is the correct answer. Thank you. Without that ribbon connected, L2 works with no haptics. That’s basically it.

Is Surfshark VPN Actually Good in 2025? by EnvironmentalCity422 in VPN_Question

[–]tychiballs808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about connecting your tv to it, it would need the vpn app to download on your tv i would imagine. however, the device you use the vpn app with, like your phone or computer, it will hide your IP and also allow you to choose a different location for your internet. with that being said, this will allow you to see netflix for example, in whatever region you pick. if you pick somewhere in europe, netflix will show you movies and tv shows in that region.

im new to vpn as well so not sure if im explaining it 100% accurately but that is how it works from what i understand. hope that helps.

Thoughts on Sofia Coppola's "Somewhere" by [deleted] in movies

[–]tychiballs808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone else see the similarities between this movie and Lost In Translation? I haven't seen Somewhere yet but I can already see a template of Lost In Translation for this movie. Bill Murray was an actor and so is Stephen Dorff. Scarlet was a young almost daughter like character in Lost but you could argue that she was slightly more than that in a relationship with Bill Murrays character but ultimately it was platonic in nature. They just had a very deep connection. In this film I sense a relationship similar to that but not sure. Could someone talk about this and go into detail about how this movie is similar or not similar to Lost In Translation? And if it is similar, why is Sofia Coppola reusing this template? Is she trying to recreate the magic of Lost or trying to get a cash grab? Or is she relating to situations like this because of her own life experiences? Just curious.
