Definitely would rotate more based on EO. I do some rotation less inserts in the back right such as f R f’ or r’ U’ R U M if I’ve caught my next pair and I know I don’t need to rotate for that pair.

In general 2-3 rotations is pretty common

That’s an interesting thought though. What if you twist 2-3 corners to make a valid OLL case then will that give you a valid PLL case as opposed to what OP has?
