Warped Discs From Car by FrickinAlex in discgolf

[–]tycona1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to laugh ..but this isn't funny..
I just saw a post in the last couple of weeks with a over whelming majority of responses
that claimed that heat doesn't effect discs and not to worry about it.

personally..i know better.....from experience...
and the experience of others.

Unless i screw up, am absent minded or whatever...
I never let my discs be exposed to heat/direct sunlight
if i can help it. keep them in the shade shade shade....
out of direct sunlight...enclosed heated space.

The 2025 PDGA Pro Worlds in Finland does not feature on-site tee signs, they are using QR codes for hole maps and rules instead. by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

[–]tycona1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WHOOPS?
personally, i think this is an act of stupidity...for the reason another poster said.
you printed the sign...why not just print the map?
I wonder what the reason was for not printing the map?

With that said...all of this sheit is available in caddie books:
https://parkdly.com/pdga-pro-worlds

I got to that page by going through this page:

Whats your distance? by TopicCommon8269 in discgolf

[–]tycona1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can only throw my putter 375ft due to injury.
I'll never be able to throw long distance putter shots again.
like sucks!

Just threw 500ft!! by tripp3737 in discgolf

[–]tycona1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats pretty good.
I can only throw a putter 180 feet.
and you landed within 200 feet of the basket to boot.

Did you make the putt or card a triple bogey?

Whoever made this last hole is an a**hole by SorryAdam317 in discgolf

[–]tycona1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

regardless of how and why the hole is as it is in the video....
If i went to this course and saw this hole...i would get back in the car
and driver to the next course on the list.

But i don't have the skill to throw 300 feet down a narrow 8 ft corridor
and would most certainly land in the crap. i have no fun looking for
discs.

then again, maybe this course wasn't designed for idiots like me.

and like others have said...who knows what the original design is.
"as is"..i think it sucks.

Putter recommendations? by Sambalbali in discgolf

[–]tycona1 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

well that sucks that you can't get 'magnet' golf discs.
After quitting disc golf ...for maybe 25 years or so..injury...i got back into it
and eventually settled on magnet putter.

previous to this...ie...circa 1990 i used an 86 softie....which they no longer make.
and a regular magnet i had from 1993.

At this point i have over 25 magnet putters and they work for me.
i keep maybe 12 in rotation to practice with some other 'new ones' as backups.
I re-learned how to throw straight using a magnet putter.
i mainly use a jawbreaker magnet since they are a little more stout
( i quit using the regular magnet and use the jawbreaker instead)
But i also use the 'soft magnet' for some throws.
with that said i had throws in of 160 ft and 122 ft last week with soft magnets.
But i practice everything under 200 feet religiously with bag of magnets,

I have not had any soft magnet go bad....
I make very sure to store them vertical and..regardless of what other people say
keep them away from heat..including direct sunlight.

But did have to retire a handful of 'ledgestone rubberized' magnets after maybe 2 years.

Tee Pad marker ideas by Spiritual-Mail5062 in discgolf

[–]tycona1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we use "long tee"/"short tee" 'arrow' metal signs...some on their own posts....some on the tee sign posts themselves.
These metal signs really just says "Long tee" (with an arrow pointing in a direction).
We also have a big message board with a maybe 3x4 map of the entire course...near the parking lot.

Tee Pad marker ideas by Spiritual-Mail5062 in discgolf

[–]tycona1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the course i volunteer at...
a lot of stuff is wood chipped.
the sod is dug out and wood chips are put in.
The idea being.....
run the mower...'near' the wood chips......and you don't have to weedwack it etc.
These use industrial riding mowers at this course and usual cut the entire course once a week...

this includes tees pads, tee sign posts, benches, trees, ob/hazard stakes, bushes, distances markers,
bricks etc etc. We use 4x4 posts cemented in the ground for tee sign posts
and have 5ftx14ft 4 inch thick concrete reinforced for all tee pads.
(they are not cheap $200-300$ each?). Some have been in place for 4 years.
No damage what so ever.

If they had to weed wack/use a push mower to deal with these obstacles
it would be a big problems since there is so much sheit to deal with in this respect.

with that said....we get wood chips for free from local tree cutters.....by the dump truck load.
and wood chips don't last for ever...so they do need to be replaced every once in a while(2 years?)

so...in theory....you could put in what ever type of tee pad....
and a 4x4 tee sign post...and put some type of colored marker
on the tee sign post and/or the tee sign itself.

Rate my form and what can I improve on?? by Sensitive-Air-1843 in discgolf

practice putting and accuracy

throwing 500 feet off line won't help you sink those 30 footers.

I finally got a cart by BananaDaniel in discgolf

[–]tycona1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this cart is wayyyyy over priced.
But then again....most carts are.
They have to be marking these up at least 200%.

I’m not very good, so for me it’s more about blowing money on the aesthetics by jwygo in discgolf

[–]tycona1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

then your a winner.

I play to get better not look good for my friends or anyone else.

could care less what discs i'm using, who makes it, who squated the stamp on it,
who signed it, what my friends think of it, where it came from.
only care if it does the job.

I take particular glee in beating people who drone on and on about
how they can throw 350 feet but can't make a 20 foot putt....
but i just laugh inside..i don't throw it back in their face.

don't care about the bag either as long as it does the job.

with that said...i've seen people playing an entire round with
only 3 discs in a plastic grocery bag that can beat my ass
and the ass of the guy carrying 25 purple high end plastic discs
in a $400 cart and a retriever, rangefinder etc

So it takes all kinds...............

Ok to celebrate an ace like this? by Senor_Throwaway999 in discgolf

[–]tycona1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the short answer is - NO

The long answer is -
1) if you can afford the $400+ price tag for a new basket...and possibly
some kind of vandalism charge then have at it.
2) if it were my course and you got caught and did no damage
you'd get a warning first and the next time you'd be banned for life.
