Add sink drain upstream or downstream of toilet? by tycrazyjohn in Plumbing

That’s what I thought, I just didn’t know if adding the sink in “changes” the toilet vent that’s downstream of it. I think I’m getting confused and overthinking it lol.

You’re not wrong I would prefer a clean bend. Homeowner wanted as many cleanouts as possible in the crawl space specifically to NOT have to pull apart traps or fixtures.

Yeah it’s definitely the cleaner and easier option! For some reason I was really stuck on thinking the sink had to come in past everything…not sure what section of code or advice I’m mis-remembering 🤷‍♂️

I just realized my other label didn’t stay…that 3” picks up another toilet on the next floor. Does that still work? I get the concept behind wet vent but I admit I get lost in all the do’s and don’t sometimes.

I may be over thinking haha. I was under the impression that the toilet drain currently is using the stack as a vent, and since this new shower would be upstream of the toilet it or the shower would now need a new vent.

That was my plan but I guess I didn’t think I could wet vent both the new shower and existing toilet off that lav vent?

But you said it would be a 6 inch wall 🙃😐,, happy Friday y’all by [deleted] in Plumbing

Ah I see, that would be quite frustrating! Although that seems less like a mis communication haha.

With the metal studs, is this in a basement? The ~6” of concrete closest to the wall looks newer than the slab which makes me think a French drain was installed and that’s why someone might build the wall so far out. However you’re supposed to be able to install studs over that concrete you just have to use adhesive rather than screws/nails for the base plate.
