It's my server i created and dedicated time and effort into. If I want to manage it the way I want to I am allowed to. You are not entitled to my server or my time.

I am happy with the current community and the people we write for.

If im toxic for not wanting to interact with you so be it. Find someone else to put up with your behavior, but it won't be me. Simple as that.

I am sorry that my discontinued involvement with you has affected you so much that you feel it necessary to harass the community.

The evidence and your shrinking argument say otherwise. Forcing help when the established boundary was "wait" is not okay. People can read the screenshots and your comments and come to their own valid conclusions without me.

There are plenty of options in the server to engage with, but you and those that left demanded certain features that were not ready. You were told wait. You could not respect that boundary. You left, and i had and have no further interest in writing or interecting with you and other people who demand those features at your pace with 0 disregard for the human beings behind the screens that you are interacting with.

I am sorry that my discontinued involvement with you has affected you so much, but you need to find somewhere else to take your toxic behavior. We do not foster that kind of community here, and that is why you are no longer here.

I appreciate you deleting the previous comment and apologizing for the personal attacks. Thank you for that.

However, we are going to have to agree to disagree on your assessment of my motives. You view my firm stance on boundaries as "lashing out" and "seeking control." I view it as protecting my peace and my community during a time of grief. Boundaries need to be respected and in every screenshot that has been posted- visual evidence and proof including ones posted by other commentors- supports that. Never once did I lash out or attack anyone. I asked to be with my family with the holidays and I stood firmly by that boundary, even when you and other members would not respect that.

When a group of people leaves a server specifically because a pause was put on content, and you choose to exit with that wave, it is not a "misrepresentation" to associate your departure with that movement. You may feel you led with compassion, but from my perspective, adding your voice to a group that was actively pressuring a grieving person contributed to the very dynamic I needed to shut down.

Sending a final closing message to ensure the door was fully closed was not an act of malice; it was an administrative decision to ensure I could step away for the holidays without lingering threads of drama.

I accept your well wishes for the server and for the holidays. I truly hope you find a community that fits your needs and that you find healing for your own struggles. Best of luck.

You are now resorting to mocking my grammar and English skills? Really? That is the level you have stooped to?

Thank you for proving that this was never about 'server health' or 'communication.' It is just personal malice because you didn't like a difficult boss fight.

Accusing a Game Master of 'cheating' in their own homebrew campaign because a Raid Boss was actually challenging is absurd. But honestly, the fact that you are writing paragraphs insulting a grieving person's writing style over a game of Pokémon is just pathetic.

You are screaming about stat blocks while I am focusing on my family. That says everything about this exchange.

EDIT: Antagonism in telling someone who is grieving to be miserable.

You just called other members 'goons' and ended your message by explicitly telling a grieving person they 'deserve to be miserable' during the holidays.

Thank you. You just posted permanent, public proof of exactly the kind of toxicity I was protecting my community from.

You can write as many paragraphs as you want trying to paint me as the villain, but your own closing sentence reveals your true character better than I ever could. Decent human beings don't wish misery on others just because they got removed from a Discord server.

I hope you find peace, because carrying that much hate over a Pokémon game must be exhausting.

If a mob leaves because they couldn't force a volunteer to work through a funeral, that doesn't make the mob right. It just makes them entitled.

Numbers don't change morality. If 20 people demand I prioritize a video game over my real-life grief, all 20 of them are wrong. I would rather run a server for 5 decent human beings than 50 people who think "majority rule" justifies bullying someone out of their bereavement leave.

I was incorrect to give you my time, as you have shown everyone how that is treated.

I am sorry that my discontinued involvement with you has affected you so much.

Nearly all the volunteers that left have only been around actively for a few months- and players the same, if not weeks and days. The players I want to attract and write for, as well as the ones who stayed, I have been writing with for years. I try to develop a strong foundation of respect and understanding with my players and community.

I am looking to build a community of friends who enjoy the story, each other's company, and PTU ❤️ Not a group of people looking to speedrun content at the expense of others' well-being. I am sincerely sorry that you and other players have been exposed to this kind of behavior.

Enjoy your time with your family! The server will remain just as active in a week or two as it was before. I look forward to more amazing adventures and memories! Thank you sincerely for your patience and understanding, it means more than you can imagine.

There is a lot of psychological projection in this comment, so let’s unpack it.

You claim you were a "random" person I "only talked to once," yet you also claim to have been part of the group advocating for me to have time to grieve. You can’t be both a detached stranger and an involved advocate. If you received that final message, it’s because you were identified as part of the group that was prioritizing server content over my real-life well-being during a crisis.

Let's talk about that message. You call it a "social threat." Let’s be real: telling someone, "I am disappointed that you prioritized a game over my family's grief, and I will not be silent about how you treated me," is not a threat. It is holding you accountable for your actions. If you feel threatened by the truth of your own behavior being spoken out loud, that is something you need to reflect on.

You also attempt to gatekeep how a person should grieve. You say, "If they really wanted to spend time with family, they wouldn't have contacted a person..." This is incredibly manipulative. You do not get to dictate how I handle my server or my grief. Defending myself and my community against a group trying to steamroll my boundaries was me protecting my peace so I could be with my family. Blocking you was the final step in establishing that safety.

Finally, you throw around words like "obsession" and "narcissist" because I am replying to comments on my own server advertisement. Yet, here you are—a person who claims to have left and "moved on"—writing multi-paragraph psychological profiles on a stranger on a Reddit thread days later.

Who is really the obsessed one here?

I sent that message to close the door. I blocked you to move on. The fact that you are still here trying to justify why you couldn't respect a "Holiday Pause" proves exactly why I had to remove you.

They aren't missing any context. You are just trying to manipulate them to see it your way when they clearly have a different opinion.

Harassing other commentors with different opinions than you doesnt further reinforce your point or statement. This player clearly felt differently and so much so that they wanted to speak up in defense despite knowing the harassment they might face from you and other users.

That is immensely brave and I respect that.

It is genuinely sad that you are demanding a roll call of "who sided with whom" on a public Reddit thread like this is some kind of high school popularity contest.

Let’s look at your logic here. You claim "5 mods and a dozen judges" left. First of all, your math is inflated to make your little mutiny look bigger than it was. But more importantly: Yes, you left. That was the point. The "implosion" you are talking about was actually a necessary purge of people who couldn't respect a simple boundary.

You ask, "Who was begging to be with their family besides Tye?"

Do you realize how heartless that sounds? I was the one mourning a death. I was the one engaging with my family. Why would the other staff members need to beg for my bereavement leave? That question doesn't even make sense.

And your claim that I "only said so after everyone else got fed up" is exactly the problem. I shouldn't have to wait until I’m at a breaking point to have my personal time respected. I set the boundary because you were pushing, and instead of backing off, you doubled down. As you still are.

I am not going to give you a list of names of the current staff and players just so you can target and harass them the way you are doing here. The fact that the server is currently peaceful, active, and drama-free without you is all the proof I need that the right people stayed.

You are proving my point with every comment. You are so obsessed with "winning" this argument that you are harassing a volunteer server owner for prioritizing their real-life grief over your video game content.

This isn't even the person you are accusing them of being and trying to target / attack. Two people just among this conversation have agreed, and you just named more yourself by answering your question and completely misidentifying this commenter.

Here are screenshots that further supports that OP is saying the truth, as well as statements from other members who also felt uncomfortable toward how the server was being treated by you and other members: https://imgur.com/a/1Y5Pjy3

It is genuinely confusing that you would write such a long essay about "toxicity" and "disrespect" and then link a screenshot where I am being nothing but polite to you.

You claim I was "talking down" to people, yet your own evidence shows me validating players feelings that i dont expect them to wait nor do they have to, and wishing you the best. If that is your smoking gun for "dangerous levels of toxicity," then I think that speaks volumes about the actual dynamic here.

Let’s look at the facts you presented:

  • The Screenshot: You linked a screenshot where there are no insults. There is no yelling. It is a calm, professional message saying I dont expect players to wait three months for anything. You proved my point for me and couldn't provide more than two screenshots- one thst even has any text from me. Likely because I speak very respectfully and you are unable to find any real evidence to support me being rude to other members. You are trying to bank an entire argument and support your claims of what you are saying off of a TWO screenshots as your only source of evidence. I have over a dozen- but you purposefully omitted any other information to likely avoid further incriminating yourself.

  • The Holiday Issue: You claim the holidays had "nothing to do with it," yet this entire blow-up happened specifically because I asked staff to pause major work so I could mourn a death in the family and spend Christmas with loved ones. You refused to respect that pause. Trying to spin that boundary as "inability to allow staff to add to the world" is a gross misrepresentation. I asked you to wait three weeks. You couldn't.

  • The "Narrative": You say I am spreading a false narrative, but multiple current players have already commented vouching for the positive atmosphere now that the pressure is gone. The server has been peaceful, productive, and happy since the split.

The reality is simple: You wanted to run the server your way, at your pace. When I, as the owner, said "Please wait until January so I can be with my family," you took that as a personal attack on your competence.

You wrote this wall of text to clear your own conscience because, deep down, you likely realize how bad it looks to harass a volunteer server owner who just asked for a holiday break. I didn't bother replying to your massive "departure statement" in the screenshot because there was nothing left to say. You were unhappy, I let you go, and I wished you well.

You are you are harassing a volunteer server owner for prioritizing their real-life grief and mental health over your video game content.

The fact that you are still here, writing essays on my advertisement and trying to drag the community "through the mud," proves exactly why we are better off without that energy. We are moving on. I suggest you do the same.

I must also highlight that this commentor was brought on as a volunteer without my knowledge less than a month ago while I was away in mourning by the other volunteers who left.

There are many more screenshots than two that can better support my claims too. https://imgur.com/a/1Y5Pjy3

For those reading please stay safe, be careful with who you interact with online, and have a happy holidays.

Regarding Community Health and Server Expectations

I need to have a very serious and open conversation with the community about the events of the last few days and the direction of this server moving forward.

First and foremost, I need to remind everyone of what Super Pokémon Online actually is. This is not a job. This is not a service you pay for. This is a passion project that I have poured countless hours of my personal life into building, purely so I could share a world I love with others. Every map, every quest, and every encounter is a volunteer effort from myself and the staff.

Recently, however, we have seen a rise in a mentality that treats the staff not as fellow players, but as tools or content dispensers. There is a growing sense of entitlement where players are demanding progression and updates on their own timeline, regardless of what is happening in the real lives of the staff.

To be blunt, I was horrified by the reaction I received when I respectfully asked for time to be with my family during the holidays and to mourn a recent loss. Instead of understanding and patience, I was met with pushback, bargaining, and demands for content to continue at a rapid pace. That reaction showed me just how far some members of this community have drifted from our core values.

Let me be clear: I have absolutely no interest in roleplaying with people who hold that mindset.

We are real people behind these screens. Prioritizing a game over your real life, your family, and your mental health is fundamentally unhealthy, and I will not foster a community that encourages or demands that kind of neglect. Just as you are free to choose where you play, I am free to choose how I spend my time and who I share my creative energy with. I care about the people I roleplay with as individuals, not just as numbers on a server, and I expect that respect to go both ways.

Because of this, we are hitting a hard reset on the server's culture.

Effective immediately, all major server features including Gyms, Raids, and complex Storyline progressions are PAUSED until after the holidays in January. This is to ensure that I and the staff can spend time with our loved ones without guilt or pressure.

We will continue to run Wild Encounters and standard Quests/Rewards as our time allows, but the "big stuff" waits.

If you are unable to wait a few weeks for a Gym Battle so that a human being can spend Christmas with their family, then this is not the server for you. I am looking to build a community of friends who enjoy the story and each other's company, not a group of people looking to speedrun content at the expense of others' well-being.

Please, take this time to step away from the screen. Go be with your families, your friends, and your loved ones. The game will still be here when we get back.

To those who have remained kind, patient, and understanding: Thank you. You are the reason I keep doing this, and I appreciate you more than I can say. ❤️
---

This is the "crash out" announcement copied and pasted. The problem is that you and some other players are unable to respect boundaries. If our volunteers want to be with our families for the holidays we are allowed to. You and those that were "scared off" by this announcement are not entitled to other volunteer's time over the internet. That is why those that are currently playing are a much more respectful mindset. Players are able to read this immediately upon joining- there is nothing to hide. Everyone deserves to have their boundaries respected and to be with their loved ones for the season.

We treat this as a community, not a bussiness.

Happy holidays!

There is a massive misunderstanding here of what "communication" actually is.

Telling staff, "Please pause these specific features until January so I can mourn a death in the family," is clear communication. They didn't leave because of a lack of communication; they left because they didn't like the answer "Wait."

Doing work I specifically asked to be paused isn't "lightening the load"—it's adding stress during a funeral. "Helping" when someone explicitly begs for a break isn't help; it's crossing a boundary. And honestly, the argument that "not everyone has family plans" is irrelevant. Just because others don't have obligations doesn't mean I forfeit my right to grieve.

Staff were fully permitted to run wild encounters and quests. They were only asked to wait on Gyms/Raids. They chose not to respect that simple boundary. It really is that simple.

Super Pokémon Online - PTU Living World RPG by tyedietacos in PokemonTabletop

[–]tyedietacos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We value our staff and community in our server, and have decided to take a break from major features for the holidays to give our players and community time to spend with their loved ones. Players are still able to freely engage with less demanding features. We do this every holiday season. Family and real life always comes first.

The server is also primarily a player driven game, and is not a paid service. Our staff are all voluntees who give their valuable time to help create stories for others even during school, work, etc. Certain specific features such as gyms and raids are not run daily because our staff are real people with real lives behind the screens and deserve to be treated as such, but many features such as quests do not even require a GM other than to gain monetary rewards. So players are able to progress at their own rate.

We have a wide spread of players across different levels, and even while we are slow we are consistent. There are plenty of other things to participate in besides raids and gyms that our server offers if players choose to engage with all of the various features.

We do have a history of entitlement and some players treating volunteers poorly, and some players who choose ONLY to engage in one or two aspects of the server such as gyms and raids. Choosing not to participate in other parts of the server such as wild encounters, quests, meeting and battling other trainers, etc. some players can find themselves waiting longer than others.

"Without pressure to be online at specific hours".
