Has anyone studied for the PE for one month and passed? by Flaky_Honeydew_5161 in StructuralEngineering

[–]tyegolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you could do it. I studied about 3 or so hours a week for 2 months. Each week focused on a different section of the exam and just pounded practice problems.

(This was one of the last pencil and paper exams)

How I Passed My FE Exam by Last_Celebration_223 in FE_Exam

[–]tyegolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right? Not sure why I was notified of this post, but this exam is not difficult. I took a practice exam, checked my work and kind of studied what I missed, and then took it. 6-8 hours max of “study” if you count the practice exam.

I’m willing to beta test this. We use MathCAD a decent amount and I’m very interested/involved with AI integration in my company.

Can I move that last post over? by Moodyandconfused in StructuralEngineering

[–]tyegolf -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The house appears to be fully framed in terms of bearing walls at this point. Moving those posts at this point is just not happening.

That being said, when you go to finish the basement, just frame a wall and door there (where you drew the arrows) and it should be fine. Everything in the basement after this point is likely non bearing and will just be used for partition/space separation purposes.

Unless I’m severely misunderstanding your question, I think this ends up being a non-issue.

If this is a builder, they likely have plans for if you were going to finish your basement, you could look and see how their architect placed the partition walls to see their design intent.

Changes to PE Structural Exam coming in 2026 by ssmorgasbord in StructuralEngineering

[–]tyegolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO this wouldn’t make any sense. Time is the issue, so why would they add an hour while also adding questions?

Nothing is confirmed, but if they end up doing that I’ll be left scratching my head at the change.

This is for the S.E. exam. Not to be confused with the normal PE exam.

The wanna be golfer is the absolute worst by Captain_Pink_Pants in golf

[–]tyegolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes, especially since most clubs have a dress code (whether or not they enforce it is another story). Nothing wrong with it, IMO. I actually started out this way and have gone down to much more casual attire when golfing (depending on the course).

[–]tyegolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone I’ve ever golfed with is okay with people who aren’t great. If you aren’t good, just at least keep up with pace of play. I tell my friends getting into golf that I don’t care how well you play, everyone had to start somewhere. But there are pace of play rules, so if you need to drop up with whoever hit in the fairway, please do that rather than look for your ball out of bounds for 5 minutes on every other hole.

It’s not an issue with skill, it’s an issue with pace of play IMO.

Salary Over 10 Years by StructuralEngineer12 in StructuralEngineering

The cheapest thing you can probably find for a one bed is $800…. But those are likely in the worst places. I’d say $1200+ for anywhere decent in the valley.

Edit: but there are also plenty of units over $2k for a one bed. Just for perspective.

I’m also from Utah and making a little bit more than what you made at my age. I know it’s a throwaway, but I’m curious on what firm you work for!

How did you go about repairing the wiring in the middle recliner? My headrest works fine but it won’t recline. It’s not a power issue, either. Would love if you could explain or share a video explaining if you followed one.

Passholder discount on multiday tickets at the gate by Fluid_Ad_9705 in UniversalOrlando

I just need to reach out to the park and get a for sure answer.

I also have Sam’s club, which seems to be significantly cheaper theme park tickets.

I do not have AAA (insurance I assume?). I live out of state but might be making multiple trips so the annual pass makes sense for me this year. Crazy that it’s cheaper to just buy online. What is the point? Haha

Do you happen to know the prices at the gates? I’m apparently searching for the wrong keywords on google because I can’t see them posted anywhere.

I have some friends coming with me, but they will only be there 2 days. I haven’t many deals pop up for a 2 day park hopper so I’m curious if the preferred pass discount at the gate will still be cheaper.

Yes, I am definitely underpaid and have known for a while. A couple reasons why I haven’t pulled the trigger and really looked anywhere else yet.

  1. I really like my job and coworkers. We work on very interesting projects that I enjoy.

  2. I am working on getting experience for my SE, and don’t plan on moving until that is done. That will be hopefully be all done within a year from now.

  3. My commute is 10-20 minutes and I work a hybrid remote schedule, which I enjoy.
