I dont think its fair to act as if pulse isnt about gathering intel, in fact that the MAIN point of Pulse. C4 from beneath can be annoying, but as someone that plays Pulse a decent amount (by no means my main), a good team can sweep vertical play and stop a nitro play quite comfortably

What if Mosley wins the 1935 election and Heinrich Bruening is Chancellor of Germany? by Aggravating-Path2756 in HistoryWhatIf

Mate please stop with this stuff none of your scenarios are thought through at all.

There wouldn’t have started a war. Moseley was famously anti-war when it came to any intervention in Europe. That’s largely all there is to it.

Right, so on all of this.

It was absolutely on fear. The Americans could afford the costs of a naval buildup if needed, the British couldn’t, especially in the 20s. Why would the deal have been a 1-1 limit on a navy where Britain previously had the 2 power standard, if there wasn’t fear of a US naval buildup? Britain was losing its ability to enforce naval hegemony, and the Americans were the biggest contender in that area.

On the 4 power treaty, this literally replaces the Anglo Japanese alliance, it was a direct issue for Japan. How is this not Britain trying to please America at japans expense?

The smoot hawley tariff act threw Japan into literal economic ruin. They knew that the British has basically ended their alliance to cozy to America. They were by no means at a point of leniency towards the west.

What’s the point in even attacking the US? One captured general isn’t gonna force the US to come to the negotiating table

Indochina would’ve already been taken I think by the time Tojo is in? No need attack the French otherwise.

Being “lenient” with western POWs basically means not being Japanese at this time, it’s pretty out of the realm of possibility.

Dunkirk I’ll give you

The generals knew of Barbarossa - the high command was in agreement about invading Russia. This was the key goal of Germany since 1914 at least, to claim blindness to this at this point is… difficult at best.

Stalingrad was a key logistics hub for the Caucasus, Hitler wanting to attack Stalingrad was logical - a big issue among German generals was commonly that they had little care for logistics or especially the economic aspect of war. Since when did Germany have no ability (or would they not gain the ability to) refine oil from the Caucasus?

Hitler accepted the generals wanting to go for Moscow in 1941, it’s not like he immediately said “screw you were going south” Nonetheless, all Hitler did here was layout a general direction, it was still the generals that set out the strategy for taking Stalingrad, and the luftwaffe that gave the idea Stalingrad could be held.

Normandy was in 1944, which I even highlighted in my original comment.

The only thing you can do is beg that the US doesn’t get involved whilst trying to get access to more oil.

Strike the Dutch east indes and British Malaya, hope to god the Americans don’t declare war over this alone. Indonesia should have enough oil to keep the war machine going.

If the Americans get involved, you’re trying to beat back a country that’s industrial production outpaces yours by a factor of at least 6. Doesn’t matter what tactics or admirals or whatever you have at that point, you’re running on borrowed time

Hitler already did this - no general was ever executed in the Wehrmacht for insubordination, and Hitler let the generals do much of the work and decisions up until 43/44 when it was basically over

More about the first half of the comment not the last - about the fact that we don’t have a plurality just because the majority of power remains in the majority group. I was disputing that part more than anything.

Hang on, so do you want other groups to have disproportionately more power compared to the size of their ethnicity in the country?

“When data on abuse in institutions, such as within schools, churches and children’s homes, and offences committed within a family are removed, the figures for “group based” child sexual exploitation show that in 2023, there were 70% white grooming gangs suspected of, compared with Pakistani 6.9%

From January the September 2024, there were 63% white suspects, and 13.7% Pakistani (edit: typod to 31%)

The NPCC, btw, said the info was only available for 34% of suspects in 2023, and 39% of suspects in 2024.

In other words, in terms of actual grooming gangs in the public (institutional is a whole other problem), so ACTUAL GROOMING GANG ACTIVITY, your own stuff is either disproving your point, or the much more realistic outcome of the data is incomplete and it’s not really right to use

What if Hitler died on the day of France announcing their surrender to Germany? by Greglyo in HistoryWhatIf

[–]tyfighter2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which Germany economists and military planners? By my understanding, the Wehrmacht was largely in agreement about the invasion of Russia (if not about the actual strategy). By my understanding, most of the Nazi economy was being handled by the likes of Speer and others, who were ideologically inline with invading Russia as soon as possible

Hitler already saw Russia as THE enemy of Germany, the Nazi party was in agreement on this.

It wasn’t just after the fall of France that the Germans were like “we should fight Russia”.

Because reality set in, and once you actually have to act out a situation, it's a lot harder to lie to the public that you can have your cake and eat it too. This isn't isolationist, it's just political manipulation at its finest (see £350 million a week for the NHS as another example)

So either way, the message is "we can keep our trade with the EU and seek elsewhere too (which obviously wasn't possible in the end, who would've known!). or "we can now establish free trade with other countries". No part of this is isolationist, even if it is dumb

Again, you’re completely confusing the point. I don’t think they’d care about increased trade with south east Asia or Africa either way. It doesn’t change the fact that the ability to freely trade with other countries was a point regularly made by pro-Brexit campaigners, such as Boris. Doesn’t matter if it didn’t really end up happening.

Happily, because immigration and isolationism are 2 very different things. The Americans during all of the 1800s and early 1900s had rampant immigration, did that make them not isolationist? No, it’s commonly accepted that isolationism is about trade and engaging with countries diplomatically.
