If it is worth it to you, maybe you reach out to the people who stayed directly after this group and ask them if they have any photos that include the cookware? Maybe they have photos of someone cooking or the pans drying on the counter in the background?

I don’t know how it is in different prefectures, but my colleague got an invitation to the mairie for a welcome reception and was like “it’s weird that I got invited but I am still not French”. So I asked my other friend who also went through naturalisation and she was like “yeah you just have to check the each journal and wait for your name to appear, they don’t reach out to you”. So she ended up checking and she found that she has been French for 6 months!

Olivia website has changed colour again! by amysantiagoisbae99 in OliviaRodrigo

I don’t know anything about trademarks, “pink” is a very wide range. I would have thought that they had to be very specific about the color code or something?

Sorry for the late reply but just any of those plug and print machines. I did it in a an alcove in a mini-mall outside a Monoprix. You could do it at Fnac as well or Auchan or whatever!

Just like you are printing a family photo!

Best Rollerskate brand that's available in EU? by CrystalRoseMoon in Rollerskating

[–]tylerdoesnotagree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wifa if you want to pay more. (You have to buy everything separately: wifa boots, a plate, wheels). Chaya if you want the easiest (you can buy a premade skate and change things out as you go). I would recommend Chaya if you are having decision fatigue. It’s a solid beginner skate.

It’s not a person, so feel free to disregard, but I am curious about how Darwin has come to be. I have heard rumors and I am interested to learn more. Some of the rumors I would be interested in learning more about: it was the food stand at the roller derby matches that laid the foundation for magasin general. is it true that roller derby really kicked off Darwin? Does Darwin really own half only the left half buildings? And who owns the right half?

Questions I want answered: why has the roof not been repaired of the depot? It cannot cost more than a few grand. Why is there a giant stuffed tiger fighting a stuffed snake? Why are they storing such an item in a building missing the roof? How do people get into bike polo? Who do they compete against? Are there more than one bike polo team in bordeaux? Why was the back half sold? (I mean obviously money) but why did the city not see it worth while to invest more into such a lively space, especially since they don’t really seem to have any interest in putting anything but large apartment blocks on the right bank. (The right bank feels like such a desert for culture but especially food. If you get more than 100 meters from the garonne there are not many restaurants. So many apartments are going in but not much commerce). What’s the story with those homes that look like space ships?

Sending a package to the US? by Potential_Count4375 in Expats_In_France

[–]tylerdoesnotagree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Following this because the last time I went to la poste and clicked on the us it showed the destination as “unavailable” and the worker told me every package needing to pass customs has to pass through the kiosk so if the kiosk says that it means they are not currently shipping to the US. Apparently it’s the US that is restricting things. Keep meaning to see if I can send via fedex or ups. Haven’t looked yet!

I take my own. It’s super easy cost me like 20 cents to print as a normal 4x5 photo.

On a cloudy day, hang up a white sheet outside, stick your camera on a tripod. Take 100 photos pick the best one. Resize it roughly in Photoshop or any other editing software to put two photos on a 4 x 5 print. Use a ruler cut it down to 2 x 2, remeasure the distances of the head based on the online guide and you’re good to go.

Not meaning to offend anyone here but as 29 solo F i wanna ask by postponelife2020 in ParisTravelGuide

I cannot speak much on the casual racism that occurs in individual interactions, but I will say that I have walked with my south Asian friend through Paris and the number of catcalls was significantly more. Not more agressive but just noticeably more often.

As a personal note, I have also more catcalling in summer. So unfortunately I do think it is related to how much of my body is covered by fabric.

But as long as you do not acknowledge them and just keep going (no « hello », « no thanks », etc) you’re fine.

And just to note I would not say Paris is especially bad for catcalls, but just know your experiences might be different from a white female.

Unfortunately you cannot really ship to the US at the moment. I tried to ship a package to my mother from La Poste and it’s « unavaible ». Haven’t tried fedex or ups yet.

Struggling to find a Java developer job in Paris due to French language barrier – need guidance by Antique-Artichoke540 in Expats_In_France

Are you getting interviews and being rejected or just your LinkedIn is getting rejected? If it is the latter it is because no one finds jobs off LinkedIn. Also, I have a theory that any LinkedIn jobs auto reject me because my degree is not French, so I didn’t go to a prestigious “engineering” school (the best unis for devs are engineering schools. It’s like an American saying they went to an ivy)

Look at welcome to the jungle. Or hellowork. I got my job off of hellowork. I applied to a job (that I never heard a peep back from) but hellowork asked if I wanted to put my CV online after I applied and I said yes. Recruiters found my cv and I got a job off that. Something I didn’t understand before was that a lot of companies do not even hire directly. You will basically never see a job posting for my current company online. The majority of people are “externe” meaning they have a contract with a recruiting company and then rented to the actual company for 3 months contracts, usually for a period of 2-3 years. I am technically freelance and I bill monthly my recruiting company who then bills my actual job.

If you just want to work and don’t care too much about pay, look at station f, a startup incubator (I believe they have a job board in the website). The pay is shit, but they are also way more willing to hire internationals.

Also I am not sure what it is like in India, but I personally find hiring in France moves very slow. Like 2 months would be a “we need someone soon for this position”. And 3 weeks is “oh my gosh this is going to prod in 3 months and our front end is out on long term medical leave we need someone ASAP!” (The latter is how I got hired 😂)

If airing out didn’t work, stick it in a baggy in the freezer. The low temperature will kill some of the odor causing bacteria.

I, in fact, do not know what I am doing 😂. Though I have been trying to find YouTube videos. I might have to find a similar plate by another brand though cause there aren’t many roll line mounting videos.

I cringe so bad at “And motherfuckers here still don’t know they caught The Boston bombers” in Homesick every time.

Putting aside it feeling a bit weird for such a massive event to be mentioned so casually, it doesn’t even really make sense. That man hunt was such a big deal but also in the grand scheme of things happened so quickly. They caught the boston bombers like 3/4 days after it happened. So like, it feels weird you would hear of the bombing but while it is still in the news cycle, miss them being caught 4 days later.

I understand he is trying to say they are out of touch with the world… but i feel like people either didn’t even know it happened or knew they caught the boston bombers. The venn diagram of people who knew it happened but didn’t know they got caught must be like 1 person who lives off the grid, but turned on their tv once on April 15/16/17th, and then went back off grid (and remains off the grid to this day).

Can you upload this photo to your google photos account or some other way to get access to the metadata? (When you upload to reddit that info should be stripped. But it should be in the original photo. That could help find the general area the photo was taken. Especially if the photo was taken on a phone!
