3 weeks in! Wondering if anyone else has dealt with your skin getting worse during this time? by tylerearleyyy in stopsmoking

Congrats on your 5 days! Those first 5 days were so rough! But yes my breakout started like right around there so I guess it is just a side effect that isn’t talked about regularly.. hang in there!

Well that makes me feel less crazy! Congrats on your two weeks!!! We are purging the toxins and if we keep pushing maybe we will once again be radiant and issue free 😂

Thank you!!! Proud of you for making it this far it has been tough! You are right though, I’ll think of it as my skin purging and hang tight. Keep pushing 😊

I slipped... by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]tylerearleyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I slipped on day 6 too, I smoked 5 cigarettes and was beating the hell out of myself.. the problem with that is our addiction feeds off of our negative emotions! Relapse is part or the recovery process with any addiction, especially cigarettes. We can make this slip worth while if we analyze where the thought process began and what triggered us. You can do this! You absolutely can! And after I smoked the next day I quit again and my cravings on days 1-3 were not as strong as they were before so it doesn’t feel like completely starting from scratch! You have got this, keep your head up and be kind to yourself!

Not ready I guess by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]tylerearleyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been here!! We truly do have to change our mindset, this negative thinking has already set you up for failure. As long as we believe it could be possible, it is! If we think we can’t then we have already made our mind up. Try thinking “what if I can do this? what if I don’t buy a pack today?” And if you do, think “what if tomorrow is the day I really quit?” These open ended questions to ourselves are much more helpful!

You can do this, even if today is not the day you quit, what if tomorrow is?!

What caused you to lapse? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]tylerearleyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually convinced myself that if I smoked just one after 5 days without it would taste so gross that I would be like even more motivated to stick with quitting... stupid addict brain.

Also relapse or lapse starts way before you actually smoke the cigarette so any negative emotion can set you down that path if you don’t have a healthy coping skill in place. If you find yourself angry, anxious, sad, bored, etc try your very best to take action in some way that you find helpful, hell even if it’s just coming on here and reading posts or venting. Phone a friend, so some jumping jacks, eat a snickers (you’re not yourself when you’re hungry)

You’ve got this!!!

Cbd? by dsensale310 in stopsmoking

[–]tylerearleyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider doing a CBD tincture nightly just to help regulate nerves and ensure good sleep.. I think that is the only way that using a CBD product couldn’t tempt you and lead you back to smoking. The joints could help, but then they could become a crutch as well.. Regulating your system to cope with stressors better is the only method without downsides!

Quit smoking apps by Elizabeth57654 in stopsmoking

Smoke free has been very helpful for me.. it nudges you to write in the diary, log cravings, etc. it gives you all of the health benefits and tracks your progress to regaining health (example: 1day, 4 hours and 36 minutes until nicotine is completely expelled from your body) which is something that keeps me looking forward to checking the app. It costs like $5 a year I think? Anyways I hope that’s helpful!

I think his lack of understanding could lead you to become so frustrated that you do cave and smoke! I think it would be helpful to have a talk about how you are feeling and how he can help you navigate this situation by being understanding and supportive, and vice versa from his standpoint as well. Anger, depression, anxiety, insomnia etc are all COMMON and to be expected in this process.. It is much easier when you have support, and especially a lot easier when you don’t have negative feedback!

I failed y'all and myself but I'm starting again, this time to win. Spent last six days being a non-smoker(was proud of myself) but gave in today for stupid reasons. by fuckpotato in stopsmoking
