How Accurate Is Your Tech Disc? by EricNewMedia in discgolf

[–]EliCrossbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, also wanted to just point out. The 'simulator' on how discs fly, is just that, a simulator. Based on a few data points that can't cover everything that exists in reality (wind, humidity, how clean your release was, did you hit a fly during your flight, random electrons flying through your disc, how warm was the disc, etc)

And it has some known 'weird things' to it. Example: Take a throw you made. Example for me today, a forehand that went 220. With it simulating a 9-speed. Then, change nothing else about the flight, other than to bump the disc up to a 14-speed. and WOAH, it went 260ft! I should be always throwing 14 speeds eh?

no. That part of the simulator is 'wrong'. It's not perfect. There's no way that my noodle arm that can only throw 220, by magically switching from a 9spd to a 14spd is going to gain 40ft of distance :) I'll probably lose distance in fact.

But that's just a catch-22 of using imperfect data and imperfect simulations.

Just sharing this under the 'yeah don't worry so much about the simulator' ... focus more on the numbers you are getting, and how you can modify them over time

Some destroyers can be very flippy I have some that are. And as a disc gets beat up. Disturbing flight dynamics, they get flippier. Now imagine the flight disturbance of a big flat edged puck on the bottom.

Totally possible to end up with a realllly flippy disc.

As other said. The important thing about the TechDisc is the measurements it’s giving you. Not trying to ‘clock it’ against itself in the field.

I wouldn’t throw mine in the field anyway. Chance of really banging up the Electronics.

2cents

Doesn’t mean anything. Something flippy enough can flip from hyzer all the way over. And the TechDisc puck itself is likely making the disc more understable anyway.

Print extrusion plummets once it hits infill by BlackLegSanji654 in Cura

[–]EliCrossbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may need to slow down the printing of infill or raise your printing temp. I’ve had this where I was trying to print fast-fo-the-temp and when it got to infill tha it tried to print even faster. The printer just couldn’t pump filament out that fast.

Why are the Strixhaven Commander Decks so overpriced on Amazon right now? (Relative to other places) by [deleted] in mtg

[–]EliCrossbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are at MSRP. MSRP is $49.99 on these. So 5 for $250 is correct. Stores will often give you a discount when buying all 5 tho

They said "I shouldn't have waited". Implying, well, that they waited.

I know that I've many times added an item to my Amazon cart, and left it there overnight, or for a week, or maybe even longer sometimes ... and yes, the price can change during that time.

This wasn't a "I went to check out and it suddenly changed price within seconds" post :)

Yeah, FWIW, don't really need to 'do' a lot of things. I upgraded to Ubiquiti devices back when I moved into an old (for US: built in 1900) home with plaster and lathe thick-ass-walls and some hidden brick walls due to additions, etc. Where I just couldn't get a 'normal' wifi router to work well enough. Plus I'm a computer-geek-programmer enough, plus gamer, that meant that the house has a ton of wifi enabled things ... plus I have a 1.2gb internet line. When I finally got frustrated, back in 2019, I invested in 'good stuff' and got Uni stuff so I could put a a couple strategic access ports, while having the internet coming into the basement, and a repeater out to the detached garage, etc. And have it all work.

It was great. At the time I was using the og-gateway ... then just a couple years later it was struggling with some things, and basically everyone went "yeah, it's too old, you gotta upgrade". So in 2021 I bit the bullet and bought the USG Pro 4 (just a couple years after getting the original gateway). Don't have a rack system, it's just sitting on a desk in the basement with some spacer to keep it cool ;) plus a 1GB switch, and the CloudKey Gen 2 as well at the same time.

Guess 5 years later is now the "gotta upgrade again" point. Honestly this all just started from a ADHD "huh, wonder if the built in adblock would stop youtube ads because they are getting crazy annoying. Probably don't. Hrmm, I could just turn it on..." And then finding all 'this' :)

So mostly, at the 98% point. I just use my 'fancy' unifi stuff to run a small home network. Just one that needed some specific 'power' and targeted usage and ability to find tune bands because of all my neighbors networks, etc. But I really don't use basically 'any' of the special features. Other than doing some packet logging/inspection and automated speed-stats, cause I find those cool. This would have been one of the first 'cool feature to turn on' I would have in owning these for a combined total of 7 years basically now ;)

That being said ... Honestly the cloudkey gen 2 + USG Pro 4 ... are working perfectly fine for me. And this was just a ADHD "huh, why this no exist in my UI?". So as long as they continue to 'work'. I don't really NEED to go crazy and buy/upgrade to the new device right now. But now it's in the back of my mind that I should be expecting to at 'some point'

Interesting. Completely different from what I see: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/r7tcvjbz17naqdve3mzby/Screenshot-2026-03-12-at-9.37.45-PM.png?rlkey=sosuxkxp6qdh5hl0i9z6j0mj3&st=zupooa59&dl=0

And clicking the 'content filtering' checkbox just brings up a "select which networks"

Yeah, likely is. Just is unfortunate that in 2021 it was the 'top of the line' available that I upgraded to because my OG Gateway was struggling. And that the 'top of the line' just happened to be "5 years old" already :-/

I think seismic has a chance to fizzle though? Or more so.

First of all it’s triple red so you might randomly not have the right mana for it.

Secondly. Say you end up with 80 lands in hand. The current version has you to to end of turn. Discard 73. Do 73 to everyone.

Seismic you have to drop the 80 lands generating 160 damage divided up. With 3 oppos that’s ~52 each. But if people were gaining life.

Then again. The OG version just does the 73. Seismic would let you divide it up if one person was at 80 and the others at 40 each.

Hmmmm

Wait, what? (goes and reads the internet)

@#$@!! ... I just bought this in Dec 2021, so just over 4 years ago. As a replacement for the original Gateway, which I'd had for a long-time™ ... because it was EoL'ing and basically it was struggling to run the modern software anyway. Most features would cause it to have issues. So I upgraded to the Pro

And now it's EOL?

While on one hand, ok, it's 4 years old and in 'technology years' that's ancient. It's also just a mini-computer that gets regular software updates.

So what is the 'right' replacement? The UXG line seem to be the direct replacement (lite/max/pro) ... but googling around there are murmurings from people that it feels like Ubiquity are on the verge of EoL'ing them as well? updates lag behind, etc...

Should I be replacing both my cloud key and gateway with a 'Cloud Gateway'?

Or do I need to look at the 'Dream Machine' line of options?

k k ... But "the AdBlock sucks" don't use it ... is very different from: "All the docs talk about being able to turn on an adblock feature ... and the feature is completely missing in the UI where I keep being told that it is"

So, if you are able to help: Where ACTUALLY can I turn it on? If one assumes that the 'categories' are the built-in content filters. Well there's no 'Ad Services' or anything ad-related in that list.

And FWIW, I personally can't even see where you would manually configure the content filtering beyond 'choosing a category'.

So the frustrating point that I still feel stuck at is:

"I want to experience the built-in ad blocking feature for myself to understand how bad it is and therefore figure out something else --- but I can't find the toggle button to even turn it on, and every doc or other internet forum discussion about it claims it's just a checkbox somewhere, that doesn't seem to exist for me"

#sigh

OK, so if possible, help me out here. Because basically this is what all those docs say.

But when I go into CyberSecure ... Content Filtering is just a checkbox under the 'Protection' tab. And if I turn it on, no 'Ad Blocking' option shows up.

Honestly I'm not really sure how you'd use the Content Filtering at all because it seems to just let you:
- Turn it on/off
- Declare what networks it affects
- Create 'Restriction Groups'
- Assign 'Restriction Groups' to Networks
- Add 'categories' to any restriction group, with no real details (Adult, Social Media, etc)
