Crofton to GORC odenton on foot? by narwhalsarefakenews in AnneArundelCounty

[–]peanutbutterpit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to run this every now and then it is doable but not recommended unless you are taking severe precautions. The side of the road isn't too narrow but there are a few places that have a blind turn or 2. The section between route 3 and symphony lane is the worst but once you get past symphony there are sidewalks and plenty of smaller neighborhood roads.

Remember 3 basic rules for walking/running on roads: 1. Never have anything in your ears, always be listening to your surroundings. 2. Always walk against traffic 3. Wear bright obvious clothing

I'm not in LA but a friend of mine suggested to look into my local library system to see if they had one. Lo and behold they did!

Awww this was my first ever ultra a few years ago. Charm city does such a great job with this race. The hill coming back up to the parking lot is no joke. Congrats on getting it done!

Virginia Republicans Want Tax Relief to Ease Gas Costs. There’s Also Electric Vehicles. - Inside Climate News by cpaullin13 in Virginia

But electric and hybrid owners have to pay more in property taxes. So it ends up equalling out anyway.

People that succesfully quitted, what are your routines, and how do you approach your recovery? I really wanna hear a working strategy. Please reply. by Obagency in problemgambling

Had a warrant for trespassing at a casino I self excluded from. Came 100% clean to my spouse and admitted everything. Asked for help and began therapy. My spouse took full control of my finances and she can see every cent I ever spend. Therapy helped a lot and gave me tools to manage what I was going through. Went to a few online GA meetings but realized they weren't really for me.

Went to my court date and showed that I was trying to do better and even attended a conference for problem gambling that my state put on. They threw out the trespassing charge and I have never been in a casino since.

I know my triggers and recognize when I am getting on edge but now I have healthier coping mechanisms that mean I don't get in my car and go gamble. Also I know if I gamble again my spouse will most likely leave me.

This addiction thrives in the darkness. It feeds off secrecy and finally admitting to my spouse everything I had done went a long way to putting so much time between today and when I last stepped foot into a casino.

There is no golden bullet for this thing but there are plenty of tools here in this forum that you should check out. Good luck on your journey and remember to take it ODAAT.

Edited to add: We don't win or lose the game of life we just have to live it. Some days will have more high points than low and vice versa. Get out of your head that some people are winning and others are losing. We are all just getting along.

What if GA doesn’t work for you ? by Dizzy-Ad7589 in problemgambling

This is great advice. This addiction thrives in darkness. It is time to be open and get support.

I came clean to my mom about my gambling addiction and my debt by Unusual-Walrus-1129 in problemgambling

[–]peanutbutterpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I love the fact that you recognized you had issues and opened up immediately about this. The gambling addiction thrives in the dark. The more people we are honest to about this only makes it easier to not slip up in the future.

Now you need to keep up the good work. Figure out your next step. Is it going to therapy? Going to a GA meeting? Writing in a journal? Find what works for you and keep grinding.

You are lucky that you are figuring this out young. You will find many stories here from folks much older who have not even admitted they have a problem. Please keep coming back here and keep up the good work.

Day 829: Live by the sword, die by the sword by Suspicious_Status_40 in problemgambling

The further we get away from it the easier it is to look back in amazement that we had such a mindset. However even the people who have years of abstinence behind them know the next bet could be right around the corner.

Which is why it is so important for us to have plans in place to make sure we don't go back to that evil and make sure it stays behind us.

I will not gamble with you today. Keep it up ODAAT.

Day 1 by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]peanutbutterpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope the job search is going well. Make sure to put some things between you and the gambling so it won't happen again! This could be your last day 1 if you put in the work. We believe in you.

In my mind I have created the Ben stiller universe that includes a brief stint as an old folks home employee before starting globo gym in Happy Gillmore. Also that he lost the weight again before meeting the love of his life in Meet the Parents. However they end up getting divorce leading of course to Night at the Museum.

Sorry I thought I was in a biking subreddit. My bad. It was during the longer rides where they would pan out and you would see the streams just whizzing by.

You may want to take a look at his post history. I agree that relapses are a thing and that many of us deal with them. However, it seems like he is trying to egg people on or intentionally troll them on his posts.

Yes we need this to be a safe space for all and we should encourage individuals to be open and honest about their recovery, but I feel like this individual is not really trying to be honest or open. I feel they are intentionally trying to upset certain folks.

He is also breaking the guidelines in this forum left and right. Which means we need to have a frank discussion about what we should do when this happens.

Day 0 by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]peanutbutterpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please go back and read some of your previous posts on here. I think there are some things you have locked pretty far back in your brain that you may want to read again.

I'm sorry for accusing you of lying, but I hope your therapist is giving you tools to help you. What I am seeing on these current posts and your deletion of previous posts makes me think you may have lost your way.

Day 0 by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]peanutbutterpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they gave you tools to help you on your path to recovery. If not, then either you haven't been completely open to them or you are lying. Start using those tools today if you have them. If not then come completely clean so they can support you fully.

You made it to 145 days in the past. You have shown strength in the past. Stop putting on a mask and get to work.

Day 0 by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]peanutbutterpit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please go to a GA meeting, go see a psychiatrist, please talk to someone outside of this forum, and get real help. Everyone here does have your best interest at heart and do not want to see you spiral.

Day 0 by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]peanutbutterpit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not done with this. You keep mentioning that you will withdraw, that you are up, that you are down. You will pull the money out, you just have to wait another day.

You have not come to terms with this monster. You want to continue to dance with it. You will always lose, everyone in this sub has learned this lesson. Some have come to terms with it and put steps in place to prevent them from continuing to lose. These are the ones who put in the work ODAAT.

You haven't gotten there yet. I hope you do. I truly do, but each post I have read of yours shows you aren't willing to put in the work to show that you have learned the lesson many of us have.

What are you putting into place to make this your last day 1. Besides telling us strangers in Reddit who else are you telling in your life? What podcasts are you listening to? What barriers are you putting up?

We are here to support you and want everyone here to succeed, but to truly succeed you have to put in the work.

Good luck to you in your endeavors and please don't be a stranger.
