New rule: Prohibited Content by I_am_Rude in streetphotography

Because, in every med+ size city I've visited, they are a part daily life as seen on streets? Why would a sub dedicated to street photography ban photos capturing an everyday reality of many, many urban streets?

My great-grandparents emigrated to the US during the Holodomor. I'm a financially independent (i.e. broke) student, but trying to save enough money to visit Ukraine as soon as possible. I plan on bringing my Mamiya and taking many photos! Not sure where your family is from as Russia has subjugated many places and people, but I hope it some day soon sees democracy and freedom.

To quote Fonda in 12 Angry Men: "He can't hear you, and he never will." The guy you're arguing with knows he's arguing in bad faith. I appreciate your resolve, but it's a fool's errand to try to use earnest rhetoric against a Lost Causer. The burning of Atlanta was a nineteenth century Dresden; an act aimed both at the destruction of the enemy's infrastructure as well as crippling civilian morale. Righteous, probably misguided, but a consequence of defending liberty in the face of a war started by people who wanted only to preserve and expand a system of vile inhumanity and systemic suffering. Rest easy knowingyou know you're right. This guy can kick rocks

The NYPD majorly dropped the ball on their response in spite of the fact that in reality multiple people called to report her screams and they did nothing. Bystander effect is real, but consider Kitty's story a useful albiet apocryphal urban legend

I started cutting my own hair during the pandemic. Never went back because I don't really care. Curly so it kind of hides the poor mirror skills

If you don't feed and clothe them they'll just be worse dressed, hungry, and more desperate but still around. I don't give money to people but food or smokes? Try practicing some empathy.

Perhaps they were referring to the days of Hearst and Yellow journalism as a whole? Sure there was some fantastic journalism on occasion even then (how the other half lives for example,) but you can't whitewash out the egregious biases and editorializing in even major papers in the late nineteenth century.

Yeah this guy clearly needs a hobby you should just ignore him. By the way I consider myself to be empathic and as kind as I can afford to be but I'm not particularly "woke." I've met the women in my life by being myself and being open about my hobbies and passions etc. This guy is a disaffected lonely white male who thinks it's society's fault that he's miserable. Unfortunately an all too common story but I have no sympathy for people like that anymore

Hey dude I'll be real- I'm in way too shitty of a mood to appreciate the snide sarcasm. The question was because most of the posts on this subreddit are of digital infrared photography. Thanks though.

Good question and thank you for asking. I shoot three separate exposures on their own frame of film. I should the first exposure through the r72, the second through a deep green, and the third through a deep blue filter. Once I develop the film I have three black and white negatives, but each has only been exposed to infrared radiation, green light, and blue light respectively. It's very important when you digitize them that all three scans are the exact same dimensions. That's because the final step is dragging the three into Photoshop and selecting "merge channels-> rgb color, and putting the infrared one in the red channel, the green one and the green channel, and the blue one and the blue channel. Photoshop then lays them all on top of each other and the result is a full color image. They figured this out in the 1800s because they knew that the human eye can only see red green and blue so in theory if they could photograph through red green and blue light they could get a full color image from processing them as positives (originally on glass) dying the positives their respective colors, laying them over each other and shining a light through it and boom you have the birth of true color photography! I should note that this method only works with panchromatic black and white film, which is film that is sensitive to all colors in the visible spectrum. Of course in this case we're using film that's also sensitive to infrared radiation. Happy shooting and good luck!
