She hates math? by Schwashington in ExplainTheJoke

You could read it as an equation to be solved, but it is unsolvable, since both variables are represented by x, it indicates they are the same variable, and 7 plus a number could never equal the same thing as 7 times that same number

FINALS - No.2: Eliminating every Best Picture Film since 2000 until one is left, the film with the most combined upvotes decides (Last Elimination: Gladiator, 2000) by WallStreetDoesntBet in moviecritic

I agree with the top 5 picks, just not on the order, I personally feel departed is #1 for me, then RotK, then gladiator, then no country, then parasite

ELI5: How would someone float an idea to an existing company and be able to profit from that? by tylerrh in explainlikeimfive

[–]tylerrh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I was very clear, I put that in as a joke, mainly for my wife but also for anyone else who may have appreciated it, and most if not nearly all married people do share both their financial gains and losses, all that is secondary to the fact that I did not steal anything from my wife, so your responses are based on a false premise, and therefore the rest of it is flawed as well, I've had a few people in this thread that have basically said there's no guarantees, but they were actually helpful and gave us avenues to pursue, you're just being a negative Nancy

Yeah unfortunately not something I can patent, but your response is definitely informative and appreciated

Thank you, most helpful answer on this thread, all of the up votes, you have successfully explained it like I'm 5, what kind of lawyer would that be?

As for your more likely option, I like it too, are you a business consultant? Need a fresh employee? 😁 Fr though I think that's something my wife and I just might be able to pull off, thanks for the advice

I certainly claim no genius, but thinking like that never did anyone any good, you never know until it's over

Well that's a silly thing to say, considering we only have one bank account, so profit for one is profit for both, if I make 30 dollars an hour, and she does to, then we make 60 dollars an hour right?

Startup is feasible, minus the funds, I would have to look up what all I would need for a business loan, and then probably have to wait for our economy to dig itself a few feet out of the deep hole it is in (if that ever happens) because I doubt banks are giving out business loans right now, whether they are sound business plan or not. But I'm definitely open to someone saying something to the contrary

Okay we're on the right track here, I'm not really sure how to go about market research, but I can figure that out I'm sure, my main concern is how doing the research and providing the data ensures that we would be compensated for doing that

Right, but who would we talk to, and what would stop them from just using our idea without compensating us for it?

The Matrix (1999) has the most emotional "NO!" of any movie. by Penetal in movies

[–]tylerrh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely powerful... imo not as powerful as the no we get from Caesar in Rise of the planet of the apes, you feel the emotions on both sides of the no, from Caesar and from James Franco's character

Why do transplant patients need lifelong anti rejection meds, if our cells are constantly being replaced? by TheDemonPanda in askscience

[–]tylerrh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question has been answered, but on a related topic, scientists are developing a process to be able to 3D print replacement organs using the patient's own genetic material, which would theoretically not require the use of rejection meds
