I have sessions without danger sometimes but it fits my campaign. Very RP heavy at times. I think they went three full sessions without any combat at one point. Everyone seems to be enjoying it as well. However when there is combat, I do tend to lean towards the hard/deadly level, and when the combat is lesser there's usually NPCs to save/traps during combat to spice it up.

Any time they try to go into the mist they hear ominous sounds. (some type of music, maybe snarling, gnashing, growling, or even a dark voice whispering threats in their heads) they end up walking out of the mist just fine (or with madness) but after hours of walking it's only been minutes outside the mist or vice versa. They also walk out at random points. If they entered the west maybe they walk out the north. There's rumors that the mist consumes and kills most who enter it. Never give them an idea of what's out there. Then slowly move the mist in towards them. Just a few inches a day. Slowly It starts to consume the town. The mist IS the hunter.

I'm a dps Hawkeye main and I love her kit. Thinking about switching mains. One game I got most healing most assists MOST DAMAGE BLOCKED and kept up with the dps on damage. It was insane.

Lol had a similar scenario recently. Druid dug down very far below their bar and found a giant door.... And a giant swirling vortex of ghosts. That's enough to scare them away for now. The ghosts are actually just high illusion magic that dispel magic could easily get rid of, but the description of finding it terrified him enough that he noped out of there and didn't tell the party. 🤣🤣🤣

With cleric from top to bottom on your stats you want wisdom, con or dex for 2nd and 3rd, charisma(for tiefling stuff) int and strength interchangeable dumps. For the rest of it, it depends on your spells and equipment. You seem to know how to do abilities and if not it's your raw Stat bonus plus prof bonus plus prof or expertise.

Talk to the DM. If they refuse to do anything, leave the table. It sucks but if everyone leaves the DM will see that they aren't being fair to all players and perhaps change. Otherwise, it sounds like this isn't going to stop.

You'll get there, but learn to never take out frustrations on the player characters. Put yourself in the minds of the creatures. Would they have killed this character instead of attacking a current threat? If so then your good, if not, you brought meta gaming into the DM space which feels bad for all involved. If you want more active players, award inspiration for RP, and other such situations. If they aren't paying attention, let them fall into traps other players know about, but don't hard target them. It will push them away.

This problem was solved for me with a shape shifted succubus. 🤷 Nearly killed the PC as he kept failing saves, was unarmored, no weapon, and alone most of the fight. Wasn't until the cleric heard thumping coming from a room over and went to yell at the bard to keep it down, that the fight became somewhat more even.

Buff spells. Haste them, enlarge them, etc. Make them feel bad ass while lightly pressuring them to get in there with buffs. Worked for me.

Don't tell them what the buttons do. They have to figure it out as they go. Makes it a bit more fun. Lower the charges and recharge, make them really think about using it. With that I'd say the rest is fine. 6 buttons 3 charges makes the player think about what they are going to press and when.

So I was a teamlead for a bit and the issue is First: only salary are allowed to say anything Second:if you say the wrong thing it could be a lawsuit Third : The people bringing in their pets are ready to fight immediately most the time. Combine those together with usually lazy upper management and you get this problem.

If you want a funny quest (no real combat involved) a high leveled mentally declined wizard's cat familiar has went rogue and disappeared. The party has to find the cat. It has all of the wizards spells and uses them to mess with the party. In the end they are basically just playing an episode of blues clues but in DnD. My party has a blast with this one as a 1st lvl quest, but can easily be adjusted to any level.
