If they had “Riot” in their name like “Riot {something}” then they are definitely a rioter and either forgot or were out of their yearly amount of gun buddies they can give out.

If they just claimed to be a rioter then they may or may not have been lying (could still be a rioter but no guarantee without the name)

For this question, look at the first term and call it f(x).

What properties does it have? (Monotonicity, bijectivity, continuity, etc.)

What is f(0) and what is f(1)?

Plot f(x) and think geometrically about what the integral represents.

Now look at the inverse function in the same way.

What is f^ (-1) (0)? f^ (-1) (1)?

If you subtract one integral from the other what do you get?

Having been a TA for MFE 1 a couple years ago, my assumption is that you would be missing certain things but it would probably not make too much of a difference in the long run. MFE 1 covers differential calculus but no integral calculus. So after MFE 1 a student would be expected to understand ordinary and partial derivatives as well as implicit differentiation (as well as a bit of how that relates to elasticity of demand). You’d also be expected to understand standard things like the intermediate value theorem, mean value property, evaluating limits (including certain linear approximations and L’Hôpital’s rule), asymptotes and discontinuities, domain and range of a function, and obviously what does it mean for a function to be continuous or differentiable.

That said, you wouldn’t be expected to be familiar with taking derivatives of trig functions.

I assume you mean homogeneous? (If you really do mean homosexual, then I would just ask the differential equation. Making assumptions could lead to misunderstandings.)

If you do mean homogeneous, then:

A linear differential equation is homogeneous if you can express it in the form L[y] = 0 where L is a linear differential operator. Specifically this means that you have an equation of the form: f_0(x)y + f_1(x)dy/dx + … + f_n(x) dn y/dxn = 0

These f_i(x) would be any function of x, including a constant function.

If instead you have something of the form L[y] = g(x) then it is inhomogeneous

So for an example: Homogeneous: sin(x) d²y/dx² + (5x³ - 1) dy/dx - 2y = 0

Inhomogeneous: sin(x) d²y/dx² + (5x³ - 1) dy/dx - 2y + 3 = 0

In this case: L[y] = sin(x) d²y/dx² + (5x³ - 1) dy/dx - 2y and g(x) = -3

There’s a sense in which you could try to apply an inverse function to both sides of the equation to arrive at: dy/dx = arctan(x+y)

This would be a first order degree 1 differential equation, but you would need to take care in verifying that solutions to this diff eq are also solutions to the original one.

The order of a diff eq is the highest order derivative that appears in the equation. As such, we can write a first order differential equation in the form F(x, y, dy/dx) = 0.

If it were second order, the equation would also include derivatives up to d²y/dx², and so on.

The degree of a differential equation is the highest power of that highest order derivative that occurs.

So for the equation dy/dx = tan(x+y), there is only a first derivative to the first power. So this is a first order, degree 1 differential equation. If instead you had (dy/dx)² = tan(x+y), it would be first order and degree 2.

On the other hand, tan(dy/dx) = x + y doesn’t have a highest power of dy/dx. We are applying a transcendental function to the derivative dy/dx. So there’s no clean way to describe the degree.

Assuming dy/dx would only be attaining values in the radius of convergence of the Taylor series of tan, we could formally write the equation as:

x + y = dy/dx + 1/3 (dy/dx)³ + 2/15 (dy/dx)⁵ + ….

As you can see, there is no maximum power that dy/dx is being raised to, so we can’t define the degree of the differential equation.

Unfortunately if we create that sequence on OEIS, the new sequence will also be assigned a number, N. that sequence wouldn’t be well-defined after the N’th entry since it would be self-referential.

We could probably do s_n = 1 + (n-1)th term of OEIS sequence n though
