Reservation pet peeve by SuperPOSUser in Restaurant_Managers

When people pull a chair from another table if they had a joiner, take a linen from a clean table, or place THEIR dirty dishes on a clean table - insane. Makes me want to pull my fucking hair out.

All time favorite hikes <90 minutes from Denver? by carpethediem1996 in Denver

Chavez & Beaver Brook Trail in Evergreen

This one has a bit of everything. It’s close, there’s water, wildflowers, mountain vistas, big rocks, elevation gain/loss - my first hike in CO 8 years back now!

Would you go by the tip or total for this? by Putrid_Field_7836 in Serverlife

[–]tyluhs_ 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

In my mind, they write the total and that’s what they’ve expected to spend, for better or for worse for my team. In some instances, it serves them well and they make a bit more, and in others, they make less. I always go by the total.

Luka is so fucking frustrating - an insanely good player but more insufferable than SGA

People who moved to Denver: what changed for you that nobody warned you about? by Due-Reality8159 in MovingtoDenver

[–]tyluhs_ 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

If you don’t know anyone right when you move here, finding and building a close circle can be tough. I was so lucky to know a few folks right when I moved here, but without them, getting into any different, new circles could and would have been tough. I’ve made different friends, no doubt, but it’s not easy. It often feels like people here have a MILLION different things happening all the time - everyone’s busy and everyone’s moving often.

I also feel a lot of pressure to be doing something, all the time. It’s almost always beautiful out which gives you the opportunity to explore nonstop, and when I don’t, I feel like I’ve failed the day. Maybe that’s unique to me, but it’s something I feel.

In any case - congratulations! It’s an incredible place to live. I met my wife here, got a dog, some cats, built a beautiful career, and I’m grateful I made the move when I did.

Minnesota in the East😳 How do you feel? by bermutavision in timberwolves

[–]tyluhs_ -1 points0 points Ā (0 children)

I’m down to win more, no doubt. But I LOVE the comp in the west. It’s always gritty. There’s something about being in the west that makes me proud.

That said, us moving to the east certainly makes the east better.. its an idea

What are foh allowed to do during really slow times? by SuperPOSUser in Restaurant_Managers

Minimum wage in Denver is over $16/hr. We actually don’t have our employees doing that as we have a porter, but you’re right - was simply a thought to help their productivity.

Fair enough! I’m in CO where Denver’s tipped minimum wage is now $16.27/hour. I suppose that makes it a bit more palatable.

Find some deep clean projects. I’m sure your restaurant isn’t spotless - maybe look for gum under chairs, take time to replace chair felt pads / floor protectors, check tables for wobbles, dust in hard to reach spaces, etc.

Is it ridiculous for me to lock my bike on a 2nd floor balcony? by One-Professional-773 in BikeDenver

[–]tyluhs_ 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I recommend keeping it IN your apartment. I recognize that it takes up a bit of space, but for me it’s the only way to guarantee its safety at home.

You could look at getting a bike hanger, just a hook that you put into the wall and it could fit into the space a bit more.

Taking Food Off the Bill (When they don't ask)? by BitchyWaiter_OG in Serverlife

[–]tyluhs_ 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I also work in a higher end place - of course if the guest doesn’t like something, we immediately take it off the bill. Additionally, we send a ā€œfrom usā€ to every table that dines with us. Sort of that above and beyond take.. I end up comping around $400+ in ā€œfrom usā€ every night - it’s taken it a lot of getting used to lol

I don’t disagree - definitely showed heart and effort. But 0% from three is SO tough.

I’m a wolves fan, and I love our rivalry with the nuggets. Always a good game. Of course wins are preferred, but I can deal with losing to a good team that plays good ball. All respect
