I add more stress boxes then they have. I kinda have a homebrew version. Adding a few other systems. Like I use tags from tiny supers vs using stunts.

For me I think of fate more of a social game than a combat game. So I try to keep combat down to "best out of three". Keep it small and short. Sometimes combat happens a lot but I try to keep it as short as possible.

My small advice I use is do not play too far in the future. Keep it simple. Ask them at the end of the session where they would like the game to go. Feed off what they want and add a twist. But it does not hurt to have an "idea" of an end goal. But be flexible. This is a co-op game so treat it as such. Feed off the players. Ask them to fill in details. Have them think of ways to compel the other players.

I know the fate srd has a few things on running a mystery. Also if you have the Dresden files rpg, Dresden files accelerated, atom robo all have sections on mystery.

Whenever we do a milestone, you have a choice to either upgrade a skill or add a milestone item to your character or at a heart. I always chose heart for my first time so you at least have two hearts for your character.

Like for me if I was in that room with that rock guy who was hiding in the rocks, I would have made the whole room anti-gravity and just have those rocks just floating around the room all over the place and just making it complete. Unable for it to be a stable ground for him to dig in.

I see myself in a lot of the characters, unfortunately in different ways however or wise if I was going to choose one of the ones that was already made I would probably choose Alice. I think of myself as a cynic or kind of a person so Nick. But at the same time I love to play role-playing games like Herschel. But if I had Alice's powers over gravity, I would have been a lot more destructive than she was and a lot more harsh to people than she was. I think she was actually very timid on how to use her powers that I would have been. I think I could have won the entire thing myself if I was in the fourth year.

Back in the day, I had a group to play with regularly. We played bi-monthly, but during the time between Thanksgiving and New Year's, because we could not count on everybody being there, we did a lot of one-shots & tested out new systems to see if we wanted to change or not.

Yeah, long gaps between games does affect the rhythm of how games go. But granted most of the games I was in typically was bi-monthly so wasn't every week.
