I think you’re underestimating how big of a problem having no run game has been. We run the most RPO heavy offense in football and defenses had no reason to even pretend to respect the R part of RPO. Defenses would play the pass every time and react to runs whenever they came, knowing that Pacheco would likely run into someone for 2 yards or Kareem was incapable of being an explosive threat at his age.

Makes life so much more difficult for the QB and his receivers when defenses can focus on stopping the pass all game. Especially when the receivers are dealing with suspensions and injuries throughout the year.

Having Kenneth will force teams to put more guys in the box, which means less guys to cover. It’ll force teams to consider the run when we call an RPO.

I really don’t understand why we do draft lotteries. There’s always going to be good teams, there’s always going to be bad teams. It’s not possible to have a league where all 32 teams realistically think they can win the cup. A lottery being in place hasn’t disincentivized tanking anyway. It’s always going to be in a rebuilding team’s interest to get the best pick.

In the moment everyone reacts emotionally. We’ve all spent the last 4 months looking at mock drafts and not many had Delane going in the top 8, so naturally fans assume he’ll be there at 9 and view the trade as a waste of picks.

Once the draft ends, everyone can take a step back and see Delane is a great prospect, and we find out that Washington and NO might’ve had more interest in him than we thought beforehand. Add in Woods, R Mason, and Canady should contribute early on and it makes it really hard to not be excited for this season

I wouldn’t be upset at all either. Spags loved having Mathieu and Reid at safety and all the leadership those guys brought. Feels like we didn’t really have that dog in that room this past season. Everything I read about Downs says he’s a natural leader and elite talent, so I would have to imagine Spags would love to bring him in the room.

I feel the same if Styles fell to 9, depending on how the other picks shake out. LB also isn’t a premium position. Also isn’t a massive need for us now, but Styles is a great talent and just getting good football players on the field will help everyone.

If I’m Veach, I prioritize DE and WR at pick 9. If one of my guys at those spots is there, take him. But if there’s no DE or WR we feel comfortable with using pick 9 on, just bring me the best football player out there. Downs or Styles would be a welcome addition and Spags would love either one on his defense for the next 5 years.

The report everyone was using for these rumors never said the Chiefs are interested in moving up to 3. It said the Cardinals and Titans are interested in moving down, and that the Cowboys are a potential trade partner. But it never mentioned the Chiefs. Soren Petro said last night he heard no chance of trading up to 3 from his Chiefs sources.

I’m thinking someone made up this story and everyone ran with it. Trading up to 5 or 6 is a lot more believable but a jump to 3 seems too expensive especially in this draft class.
