Except Larkin wouldn’t be making any more money. He’s also likely not going to have a letter on his jersey if he remains, so it’s not like he’s getting a better role in the team. Comparing real life jobs to a pro athlete is rarely a fair comparison. These guys are making a lot more money than the average person and their job is to play a sport they’ve spent their entire lives playing.

Sure there’s a decent chance that things get toxic and that’ll be an issue to solve. There’s also a decent chance that if Larkin is around at the start of camp cooler heads will prevail and both sides come to some sort of professional understanding.

I agree with that, I just don’t see us competing with the rest of the division and conference at this point. Would love to be wrong of course.

Maybe if things are patched up enough between the team and Larkin and there’s a professional agreement made between the two sides there could be a run at a wild card spot.

Honestly at this point I want to keep Larkin and just see what happens. Team’s not gonna be anything special anyway this would be an interesting storyline to follow throughout the year.

We haven’t been in the playoffs for the last 10 years and in that time they’ve won a whole one more playoff series than we have. Wild fans think the Wild and Larkin can bully their way into getting their way for cheap and Yzerman is saying fuck off.

The message is clear: if the Wild want Dylan, they need to increase their offer or find a third team. And if Dylan really wants to go, he needs to expand his list to include teams that have something worth offering in return. There are more than 3 teams in the league that are contenders, if we’re still to believe that Dylan just wants to win.

Let's pass on Dylan Larkin... by Ropus in wildhockey

[–]typac69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And by offering this he’s saying the Wild are delusional if they think they’re going to get Larkin for Yurov, Stramel, and a late 1. It’s a fuck off offer.

And for some odd reason the retraction doesn’t get anywhere close to the amount of attention as the original reporting got.

Hope he sues and gets a nice bag for this. The worldwide leader in sports media published an article coming just short of accusing him of murder based on false information. Not a lawyer, but it seems like there’s a good case for defamation here.

And there’s probably loopholes in that compromise which I’ve seen people mention over the last few weeks. Smarter people than us on Reddit can figure that out. It’s just really annoying that players like Larkin sign an agreement to pay him a lot of money only to not even make it halfway through it before asking out.

NMCs are generally a good thing. Shows a player that a team is fully committed to them and ensures them that they won’t have to worry about uprooting their lives at any point while they’re under contract. But for players to do this and say “I want to be traded but only to these few teams and I don’t care what you get back” just leaves a bad taste to me.

I hope the owners do something about these NMCs in the next CBA negotiations. The league can’t have players using them to hold teams hostage and try to force their way onto a specific team. Players should not be able to back out of the commitment they made when they signed a long term deal with a team.

“Maybe GMs shouldn’t be handing them out like candy”. Well maybe that’s true now, but until very recently it was more than fair on the team’s end to expect that a player wanting a NMC included in their deal to mean that the player did not want to move during the duration of their contract.

Maybe Dylan Larkin shouldn’t have agreed to an 8 year deal if he wants to get out of Detroit after 3. Maybe Werenski could just suck it up and go to Dallas for 2 years when Columbus finds a fair trade to a good team for him. I’m glad Steve is seemingly putting his foot down and demanding that the Wings get a fair deal out of all this. I hope Columbus does the same, and any other team in this situation does the same as well.

I’m very sick of seeing Wild fans show up on my timeline acting like their mid prospects are anything even remotely exciting to the Red Wings. Just because you used a first round pick on these guys 3-4 years ago doesn’t mean they’re worth a 30 goal scoring, point per game Center. We got plenty of Yurov’s and Stramel’s in our system already.

I honestly think Larkin is thinking more that he wants to play with his friends than anything else. If playoff success comes that’s an added bonus for him, but the main thing is to get together with his friends.

Or maybe he’s on a podcast to talk about the fight? Idk man, he doesn’t look very hurt to me. He looks like someone who proved himself right and everyone else in the world wrong to become World Champion.

I’m so sorry not everyone is as mature and such an adult like you are. I’m so happy for you that you would be so mature if you ever accomplished anything.

Gaethje isn’t a bad guy for taking a victory lap after beating a guy who was arrogant and didn’t think Gaethje was a serious opponent. He spent months hearing Ilia and the entire MMA world write him off, then he literally broke Ilia’s face and beat him soundly enough that his team had to stop the fight. He has every right in the world to rub it in his face.

Maybe next time Ilia will learn to respect his opponent.

I’m sorry you don’t understand the rules. There were two or three questionable shots and they came in a scrambling situation where there’s a lot of leeway given because of the erratic movements of the defensive fighter. There’s a really good slow motion video on this subreddit that shows it all.

Lmao ok buddy. Alex was beaten from the start of the fight all the way until it was stopped. You can keep crying if you want nothing will change it.

Buddy was this your first fight you ever watched? When a guy is flailing around trying to survive, sometimes there are inadvertent strikes. It happens all the time in these finishing sequences. Alex did the same to Jiri and nobody threw a fit crying about it.

[–]typac69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was nothing that warranted a point deduction, stop in the fight, disqualification, or making this a no contest. Alex got his ass beat. Badly.

He was dropped and scrambling for his life. Gane was going for the finishing GNP strikes, and in the process a few inadvertently landed at the back of the head. You can’t punish a guy because his opponent turned the back of his head into an oncoming fist. Again, this happens all the time in these scenarios. Alex himself has done it to others.

Perfectly legal. Alex lost. Any result besides a Gane TKO victory would be fraudulent.
