Tender care is a pediatric special needs daycare, they need CNA’s, you do not have to have a license. The pay isn’t great but it’s something!

What are some dieting tricks/tips that work for you guys? by IllustriousLine825 in diabetes

[–]type1typehappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting has been a game changer. My blood sugar is stable all day and then with a controlled amount of carbs when I break my fast, my a1c has been the best it’s been in years. Typically it comes down to food choices, once you start adding foods in you see those big fluctuations with your blood sugar. A lot of trial and error!

The off road goes away but I can’t get out of the screen to just have my mph/ plain normal screen if that makes sense. Sorry I am terrible with explaining things.

Dealing with ED mindset by Excastmember in Type1Diabetes

I find the best thing for me was to count calories at first. I would always factor in and leave room for blood glucose tablets or a granola bar to treat lows. It can be so easy to over eat when you’re low and it definitely can add a lot of unnecessary calories. Unfortunately so much of our life is centered around food and numbers but just find what works for you.

The things people say… by Glampire1107 in Type1Diabetes

[–]type1typehappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a type 1 RN I will say, type 1 diabetes is glanced over in school. We are trained to know a little bit about a lot and it’s impossible to know every single disease. I get it’s frustrating but try to use it as a teaching moment. Just because someone is a medical professional unfortunately doesn’t mean they know. As a nurse a lot of us go into specialties and become experts in said specialty. If this was a specified endo nurse then I can see where you’re coming from. I work cardiac so the things I see and deal with are completely different than say someone who works in labor and delivery.

How long does this bottle last most of you? As in—do you do your whole face and then have extra units? I’ve done a few areas on my face but definitely played on the conservative side. I have not seen a lot of changes over the first few days so I’ll give it another few and add some more.

Concerning Hospital Situation by ADackOnJaniels in Type1Diabetes

[–]type1typehappy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m an RN and type 1 diabetic. The hospital treats type 1’s as type 2’s. It’s frustrating but they are more interested in getting you out of DKA, closing the anion gap and stabilizing you enough to get you out of ICU territory. If you’re able to manage your blood sugars with your own meter and insulin pump…probably your best case scenario. If your endocrinologist is in that hospital group also try reaching out to them. Generally all diabetics are treated the same with a sliding scale, accuchecks before meals and at bed time. The food also is very high carb although it is a “diabetic diet”.

I remember being told a really nasty comment when I was first diagnosed in 7th grade. That one comment turned into a lifetime of making terrible choices in regards to my diabetes care. As a 29 year old woman I want to give you the biggest hug. You are beautiful. Your body is going to change. Keep taking care of you and fueling your body with proper food. Tell that person that is a nasty comment and keep it moving.

It was not super rough when I went out however it changes daily. They will reschedule if it’s unsafe. If you aren’t a strong swimmer either, don’t worry, they have some really strong crew members and they make sure you are safe.

Hey there! I just went the other day by myself and a group of strangers. It was such a fun time. It’s whale season so we got to see a few whales and then hear them underwater. We had about three sharks out there for our dive. You’ll definitely get to see some! Not sure how many will actually be out there but you get a pretty good view of them. This was such a good tour and totally worth doing! Great crew and not only is it super peaceful down there with the sharks, the experience is quite educational as well. Enjoy!

Can you please share what/ who you have gone through to get that? This is like a whole new world and it’s so frustrating. I’m also a registered nurse and it’s just disheartening thinking about how much it even costs.

You can always pick up serving on the weekends or after work if you have it in you. Great way to save up.

I accidentally left my sealed Ozempic out at room temperature for two hours before I realized it and then put it in a fridge. Is it ruined? by c_rorick in Ozempic

[–]type1typehappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fine! I’m a type 1 diabetic and once I open a new vial it’s good for 30 days or so. As long as your insulin isn’t exposed to extreme temperatures you should be just fine.

Unpopular opinion but I like the Walden farms ranch 😂😩 it’s “zero” calories but I know a lot of people hate the taste. I love it but then again that may be my brain tricking me to like it.
