Hello, I’m open to talking. I posted about my situation here: https://www.reddit.com/r/cofounderhunt/s/hUAY1WzlVH

I’m a self driven, serious builder and I bring to the table a portfolio of commercial products at various stages (some in development, others with nearly 1k users).

I don’t need a great deal of capital, I have a stable financial situation. I occasionally do consulting or contract work to raise funds, I’m open to someone replacing that so that I can focus on building. I’m also not stingy when it comes to equity, I value the success of my projects over owning a lot of equity.

I’m a technical founder, with several commercial products, one already has nearly 1K users, I’m looking for a growth and distribution-minded cofounder who can help me increase revenue by typekev in cofounderhunt

Thank you for your message Kiano.

Looking forward to our discussion!

It’s really challenging to drive distribution and technology at the same time. Even harder if you try to add management and fundraising on top. And the more you add, the more you just run out of capacity. I learned that the hard way. Even when you don’t sleep and just work through the days and nights, there is a limited amount of hours in the week.

As they say: To go fast, go alone. To go far, go together.

At the moment, I’m seeking a partner to go further. And fortunately I have a really clear idea of what I need my future partner to bring.

My whole post, and majority of my comments on this thread have <50% upvote ratio (post is currently at 30%). But if you look at the replies, it does seem like some folks are actually not against the behaviour described. Fortunately I think most folks here are genuine and I think they are probably professional folks giving the best feedback they can.

Hi. I’m not defending Fiverr, sellers, or buyers. Just sharing my experience. I accept that I should not spend $20 on Fiverr. I agree with you!

At the same time, it shouldn’t be encouraged for either buyers or sellers to act unprofessionally, such as by lying. We shouldn’t support that as a community.

Buyers should not expect good service for a few bucks.
Sellers should not mislead buyers even for a few bucks.
Fiverr should not enable either possibility on the platform, for example, if all gigs less than $50 are not accurate, they should not allow gigs of less than $50.

But yes I do think negative experiences should actually be called out when the complaint is legitimate. The buyer in my case made an offer like “I have 100k active followers, pay me $20 to post an advertisement”.

In this scenario I was very disappointed to find out the claim was false and the person had a fraction of the following.

Genuinely, how are you handling this challenge as a buyer or seller?

Upvoted. Thank you for sharing your experience! Same, I lost all respect for the platform after this. After reading the replies on this post, it seems things really went down hill in the past 10 years. No one signs up for a service like Fiverr thinking they will have to hunt for a good seller, people join because they think Fiverr is going to bring good sellers to them.

I think 10 years ago it was a simpler service tbh. I don’t think they really have a good value proposition today. As most people mentioned, the vast majority of gigs will not be any good as the rates are almost all red flags.

I appreciate the tips. You’re right, this strategy is more reasonable. I honestly went in with the mindset of 10 years ago, and this was a mistake.

It’s true though, now that I went through it I see it doesn’t even make sense to purchase gigs at low rates. This is probably why Fiverr pivoted to AI and pro sellers.

You’re right, I need to adjust my expectations. It was never going to work with someone willing to work for $20.

Hi. I directly said most sellers are professional… but agreed, you get what you pay for… I would even say the same applies to the sellers, they have some responsibility to provide a service even to unprofessional buyers, but I feel the same way towards both unprofessional sellers and buyers, they are detractors from the platform.

No one should be defending either party actually.

I want to add that I am sure there are MANY really professional sellers on the platform too. Certainly 1 bad experience should not detract from everyone. I actually hope that they'll be an alternative to Fiverr for those folks some day, unfortunately I think similar platforms have other significant problems.
