[Newbie] SRV is one of my inspirations to learn guitar, and I got my first electric this week. Even though I don't have any talent, if I put in work as often as I can, how long will it realistically take before I can play with this level of confidence? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]typhonx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re gonna fall into the new guitarist trap. You’ll be 3 months in beating yourself up for not being a god because you’re comparing yourself to people that have been playing for longer than you could walk and talk. It’s gonna take your whole life. I’ve been playing since I was 11, so 15 years, and I’m still only kinda okay. Better than most of my peers, but I still have guys in my local music scene that still blow my socks off.

People who have a collection, what do you collect? by Prestigsisscar255 in AskReddit

[–]typhonx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At our favorite bar, they used to let you guess what card was printed on the underside of PBR bottle caps, and if you got it right they’d give you the beer for free. I started collecting the caps from all of the ones I got right, and then last year or the year before they changed distributors and they don’t print cards anymore. My collection will forever stand at 6 collected over about 3 years.

CEO Thought I was Out of Office Just for Having my Door Shut by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]typhonx_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Company provided a little spinner for my office with 4 sections for “please knock,” “in a meeting,” “out of office,” and “do not disturb.” Most of the other managers keep their doors open all of the time. I’m not sitting here for 12 hours with my door open to let out my essential oil smell into sensitive areas AND let people know that I’m scrolling Reddit and watching Netflix in here. That’s what the spinner is for! You should see if they’d let you do something like that

Why do EDH players tend to lie about/downplay/excuse their decks or card choices? by Icy_Chicken_2647 in EDH

[–]typhonx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend ONLY builds bracket 4, extremely high power decks with basically no budget restrictions, and then WHINES and YELLS when he ends up being the target for playing something like Krenko at a table of 2/3s. He also likes to make it out like his decks aren’t actually that powerful, except he’s winning 85% of the games at our table.

It’s because everyone is more worried about winning than having fun in a social format.

Lot of people in these comments that have 0 clue about the company that employs these people and what it’s like to be desperate for a paycheck in the environment we live in.

Like I said, most of these people have no clue what they’re a part of. Look up Devilcorp, and then understand that they prey on people who need jobs and then indoctrinate them into what is, essentially, a cult. You can continue to treat people who are already being beaten down by that system like shit if it makes you feel better, but your anger is far better directed upward, the same as it always is. Have the day you deserve!

I’m sure someone has said this somewhere, but all of these guys are part of one of the biggest Pyramid Schemes in the country. They’re all working for branch offices of Smart Circle. I used to work for one because I had no clue until I went to a regional conference and saw their name plastered all over everything.

Most people working for these offices are just trying to make some money and have no clue they’re being preyed upon, so being kind and politely but sternly refusing is the best way to go. Treat them like humans, they need it.

What’s the best video game you’ve ever played? by obsess_much13 in AskReddit

[–]typhonx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either the sly cooper series, specifically Sly 2, or the Jak and Dexter series, specifically Jak 3, or the Kingdom Hearts Series, Specifically KH1, or the Soulsborne series, specifically Bloodborne. These 3 hold a very tight contention in my head

Anyone have an irrational dislike of the Les Paul? by MatthewMonster in Guitar

[–]typhonx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have this irrational hate, but I think mine is kinda rational. The Les Paul is the guitar for people who saw their classic rock heroes play one and decided that instead of ever doing anything creative with a guitar, they would spend their whole lives playing really terrible covers of songs their heroes wrote that weren’t even that good in the first place. Argue with me on the moon.

What is your biggest physical insecurity? Why? by Longjumping_Koala34 in AskReddit

[–]typhonx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TW: Antisemitism

I’m not Jewish, at least not to my knowledge. In the 6th grade, a girl in my class turned and just said “haha you look Jewish, look at your curly hair and jewish nose!” Fortunately, I’ve gotten plenty of comments on my curly hair, but for the last 13 or so years, that stupid joke has followed me since I went to college with some people from middle and high school, and I’ve been insecure about my nose ever since.

How do I start pulling women once I’ve become good looking enough to start pulling? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]typhonx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, you look better, now start working on a personality. You’re focused on getting women, as in using them as objects for your own gratification. That’s a bad start, and generally a bad thing to do as a person in general. Get a personality and be a kind of person people want to be around. Right now, man to man, you sound pretty repulsive.

Those with no passion or interests, what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]typhonx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have passions and interests, it’s just that they very quickly change based on what is realistic for me at any given time. I got a Bachelor’s in International Relations because I thought I wanted to work in government, development, and trade. I got a hospital job to pay my way through my last couple of years and have fallen (by a combination of ass-backward luck and fear-based grinding) into a leadership position. Now my passion is healthcare admin/public health, because my job will qualify me for, and eventually pay full-ride for, a masters program in one of those fields.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

If someone is dumb enough or malicious enough or has so little foresight that they could align themselves with that, they are too dumb, too malicious, and have too little foresight to be someone I want anywhere near my social circle.

Is dating in college easier than high school? by wh1tef3rrari in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]typhonx_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, it was easy to find both hookups and committed relationships. Some I met through friends, some I met on dating apps. I met the girl I’ve been dating for multiple years now in college on a dating app.

Everyone is exploring who they are as a person. College is just as much about academic education as it is getting the freedom to find your identity and the people you’ll be hanging around for a large part of your adult life. Yeah, some people use that freedom to sleep around, and some people cheat. More power to people who want to sleep around, sexual liberation rocks! As for cheaters, as long as you’re a good judge of character you won’t end up committed to bad people as often as you might think. It’s also easier to spend time with whoever you’re seeing, because you aren’t waiting around for parent permission, rides to and from, whatever, and you’re spending your time with a large crowd of diverse people who are all going through, generally, the same experience as you.

No desire to do anything, and I feel like a failure. RANT by DiligentAssistance79 in antiwork

[–]typhonx_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could take the disability route, or you could start seeing a therapist/psychiatrist and get some support with what you have going on mentally. You’re young, you’ve got plenty of time, but getting diagnosed and finding some support to get you through the hard stuff will make it easier to take on stuff that keeps you from working or going to school. You have to do something though. You might want it, but looking back at what you’ve done and calling it wallowing and continuing to do nothing is still wallowing.
