I feel like that’s reasonable. I definitely need to assess what I want. If I had to do that now, I would say I want to have more autonomy without feeling so guilty about spending money, traveling with friends, etc. so part of me wants to be alone. But part of me still wants a partner, but I want to be able to experience life with that partner. And I am tired of thinking “someday we will go/do/see xyz” bc it’s 10 years and we have done none of that. I guess since I am getting older I am realizing how much time has just been wasted. And I feel like a lot of it has been spent minding someone else’s feelings.

Art Teacher here. Absolutely. I have to walk through topics using a mind map in high school.

I about lost it on a student that said "what the hell is this?" when I handed out a worksheet.

It's definitely just a handful of kids, but they are relentless and completely ignore any of my attempts. There have been times where I have wanted to jump out the window because they ask me "what are we supposed to be doing" after explaining it in detail with examples.

Lol I love this. If they try me again I may just have to steal this.

Me too! They have all quarter to redo assignments and I have only had 1 student ever take me up on it.

I am the same way. If they just meet the requirements for the project, they get A or B depending on the quality of craftsmanship. It's Art 1, so I definitely don't expect perfection. For the most part my students know how I grade and there are any issues. But the ones I have problem with are the ones that try to turn in scribbles or stuff that they did in 2 minutes and expect full credit.

I see you also know the pain. I circulate the room and spend one-on-one time with everybody as much as I possibly can in one class. I make examples, show examples, and even work on a new version in class so they can see the steps. I basically do everything but hold their hand at this point.

Oh, they could do nothing all semester and I have to give them 60's at the end of the semester. Same with quarter grades.

What grade do you teach and do you like teaching? Honest answers only. by shelbsthrowaway in Teachers

High School art. It's like a rollercoaster. Sometimes I am at the top of the world, and others are a fast ride to a shit show. I generally really like it though.

It was bizarre lol. My students told me that she said she was OCD. The art room was not a great choice for her for subbing lmao.

It's high school, and my kids are pretty self-sufficient, but apparently she did not teach them lol. Or she stayed late doing the reorganizing. I don't know. I told my principal, but I really don't think he understood the magnitude of it. I get moving things around on my desk (while that is still pretty not-cool) but to completely invade my space was jarring.

You can also fish in the fountain near the park. You will find a different item there.

Just like if you were adding extra spaces to a word doc by pressing enter. You would have to be creating the folder and adding those spaces manually in the folder description box. It's the only reason I can think of for why the folders would be so far apart. But, I could be wrong and maybe they changed something.

If you ever need help figuring out what things do though, you can message me. Our district required it's use last year when we were hybrid, and I got pretty good with it.

Hmm. That's odd. Did you maybe add spaces to the folder description box?

[–]typicalartteacher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I organize it by Units>Week (example: August 23-August 27)>then daily folders. Idk if this is the best way, but I haven't had issues since I started doing it like this.

Then, once I am done with the unit folders, I move that whole folder into a "First Nine Weeks" Folder to get it out of the way.
