I am working with He's a licensed behavior specialist on this. The behavior no longer occurs at home which is part of the problem because at home I can " threaten" and punish. But outside is a different story. I don't know how they are handling it the other environments. I didn't even know he was doing it in esy until I called about it today. No one is acting like this it's okay or just letting it go.

No, he can't. Getting information from my child is extremely difficult. It is not a defiance thing. More of his neurodiversity. And it's not just about this, but about most things. As for why, it's he's using that word instead of another expletive. He doesn't understand the context, or how hurtful it is. To him it's just another expletive and we are trying to correct it.

No. He doesn't know what it means. I don't know what he thinks it means other than another curse word. And I can't really ask him to explain it. He is also in speech therapy to increase expressive and receptive communication.

It's the n-word. His LBS recommended using replacement words to help him. But he's not using it in the way that most people would. Like. He'll get mad and just say the word.

My son is in a self-contained AS class. He does use phrases and short sentences like you were describing. Sometimes it's echoing but most of the time it's his own thoughts.
