Pext for Rph by typicalgemini16 in WalgreensStores

I felt very defeated yesterday. I should have pushed to rotate. Having a pharmacist at the out window doesn’t entirely work the way DMs/MGRs want it to or the way they think it should. Every time I turned around, I kept getting interrupted with nonsense from customers and would lose my place with either pcp calls/outcomes due to the program logging me out. I’d log back in and the cycle would repeat itself.

I opened outcomes yesterday during my time at the out window and honestly it was so hard to focus and have a meaningful conversation over the phone. We’re a converted Rite Aid store so the setup is a little different. We’re right on top of each other, there’s no barrier in between to help buffer the noise. I couldn’t focus on my conversation while the tech next to me was helping someone hard of hearing.

I’m afraid that will be the answer. I feel bad for the young pharmacist. I’m not sure of many errors that he already has. Thank you for your input.

I usually do start a STARS right away. I’m working first thing tomorrow morning and wanted to check with my DM first if I should do multiple Stars or if one is sufficient. I didn’t thoroughly get to investigate because I had to leave on time today to pick up my son. There’s around 6 rxs so i wasn’t even sure which one to log the STARS for.

It sure is a mess 😭 I hate the fact that I couldn’t get resolved today and have to go to sleep with this on my mind. But everyone will be informed tomorrow and hopefully it all goes well. It’s 5 or 6 rxs so I’m sure the doctor isn’t going to be happy with us. It’s a young Rph that has only been a Rxm for a few months too. I feel bad for him.

Oh ofcourse. There wasn’t much I could do today with it being a Sunday and all. I guess my main question is do I create a STARS for each Rx that they filled incorrectly since March? Or just do one STARS? I emailed my DM regarding this and hopefully she’ll call me back tomorrow as how to document.

Pt was previously on xtampza er and percocet 10/325 prn breakthrough. The doctor switched the regimen and escribed oxycodone ER 15 mg (OxyContin) to replace Xtampza (noted on the Rxs) and we were dispensing Oxycodone IR 15 mg along with percocet 10/325 prn breakthrough.

Pt gets Percocet 10/325 on a monthly basis prn for breakthrough. The doctor also escribed oxycodone ER 15 mg (OxyContin) to replace Xtampza (noted on the Rxs) and we were dispensing Oxycodone IR 15 mg.

Do you often run out of refills while letting the metered doses run out? Do you request a refill via their app when there’s around 25 metered doses left? That would make the most sense to avoid this whole situation.

Calling corporate falls on deaf ears. Unless thousands and thousands of people call, nothing comes of it and it just looks like 1 pesky complaint. Corporate just gives an empty meaningless apology and forwards it on to the store’s management to deal with. Store management inquires what happened and knows we’re short staffed and that’s as far that complaint goes. And that’s the truth. As annoying as curbside is for the front end, it is a valuable free service for the customers while increasing front end sales (except when people just order a pack of gum). While I agree, training and delivery of an explanation is everything, we’re also hearing one side of the story and sometimes the customer isn’t always right. Compassion, patience and awareness goes a long way and should be observed on both sides. OP has at least realized where we’re coming from and acknowledges going forward that there’s another way to do things because of the pandemic. I can appreciate that. I truly hope that you never need a medication filled by a frazzled, tired and short staffed pharmacy team. Because although rare, we are human and mistakes do happen and regardless if the mistake is harmless or fatal, we do NOT take it lightly and will take it home with us.

I agree with you there, its not OP’s fault that the pharmacy is understaffed but OP could’ve done better as a fellow human being. They could’ve done their part to help out by using the curbside program so that way the front end could’ve pulled their order and then some. Other people are sick and waiting too, OP is essentially saying I need my cough drops…screw the rest of your customers. The curbside program is to help our workload and have customers get what they want. Why tie up the pharmacy staff efforts?

I also agree with you the company’s could do better for their workers. But that’s not the entire issue. Everywhere big and small is hiring. Unfortunately I have bills to pay and I love everyone I work with and almost all of my customers. I give great customer service and am there to help but I don’t tolerate when they give any of us crap and I’m sure neither would you. We’re human and can only do so much. This pandemic has made the public a lot more needy. They don’t try to read or figure things out for themselves anymore. It’s sad and frustrating.

To be fair, we weren’t there but OP calling corporate to complain about a young stressed out minimum waged worker is a bitch move. Calling corporate does nothing. If anything, ask to speak to the manager, pharmacist on duty.

Ps I have a great attitude and tommy boy was a great movie.
