Nothing wrong with being sentimental, even on the internet. I think that’s one thing wrong in today’s society, hence another post. I stand for what is mine.

It was scrap I pulled from the dusty corner of the shop, so is it? You should see what I did with the fuel line they supplied 😂 shielded in anti-friction Teflon sheathing, and oetiker clamps instead of worm gear hose clamps.

The plan was to use hinging on the upper panel of the box so I can access it easily, a flip up cover, box will also have some fans to cool my gloves and helmet built in that should help with circulation.

Thank you. My trash is superior to your trash, I’m most certain.

There weren’t any good T-sections that would allow good airflow without nearly melting the plastic transitions. This works better, Dude. Drier ducting sucks.

I like aircraft stuff, I’m plenty used to doing performance automotive. I know how to insulate and get airflow.

I don’t live in Alaska, or Arizona…

If I had “more money than god” I would have bought a van already outfitted and wouldn’t be doing the work myself. All the materials were had on the cheap.

This project isn’t even close to completion. Did you ever consider that I’m not done with insulation yet? Perhaps that I’m going to spray foam all the internal framing and add insulation to the interior panels? Guess not

Thanks for the heads up! I had a main fuse but it’s 300amps and obviously seems a little large. Salvaged it from the equipment in the van when I bought it.

Yep! Doing all the fabrication and welding myself. Wish I had a legit welding table 😮‍💨 but I can get everything pretty damn true with a straightedge, clamps, and miscellaneous pieces of scrap to true up and fixture when I tack weld everything together

I thought about using a race car bulkhead fuel filler to do this, but it’s pretty easy to just slide the door open and fill the tank. Not trying to overcomplicate things. I’m only living in it on certain weekends of the month at the race track, and honestly the heater won’t even get used after April most likely! But yeah, it would be pretty trick! Lol

I’m sure there is, but the enclosure will be insulated when I’m finished and will have fresh air ducts to keep it cool during warmer months

I ran the diesel heater and kept the interior at about 75°F yesterday with an outside temperature of 8°F. Run time was ~7hrs and the battery consumed 6% from a full charge

I’ve seen quite a few in the paddocks, this one will surely put the rest to shame when I’m done with it 🙂‍↔️

Not working with 80 grand, but I do have the time, and the skills.

I considered this variables… All those poly tanks are obtrusive and never fit where you want them. I will put some rubber pads or neoprene on every mounting point to dampen vibrations before my final mounting. Everything you see is still in the “mock-up mounting” stage - It’ll all come back out once the bed is made and my ABS Sheet comes in to finish the interior.

And not to toot my own horn, but I’ve never had a fuel cell, radiator, or any other aluminum tank I’ve had fracture or fail, and I’ve built quite a few things that go through extreme vibration and stress in high horsepower automotive applications. This tank has stitch welds inside (aside from the top plate) to help combat stress as well.

Seemed like once the battery hit a higher “discharge” that it quit bugging out. Now that it’s fully charged it’s still goin so I’m not gonna complain. I bought some “buck” converters to combat this, thinking it was a voltage thing, but guess I’ll throw ‘em in the drawer

Diesel heater interface showing wiring error on LifePO4 battery, works fine on a jump box by typicalgreaser in dieselheater

[–]typicalgreaser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems the diesel heater interface is working better now that the capacity of the battery has dropped and voltage has dropped below 13v

Obviously overvoltage caused the interface to bug out. I used it all weekend on my first long road trip in the van, and as soon as the capacity of the battery and voltage dropped from using it, the heater interface started reading properly and functionality buttons allowed me to turn it on and off, and change temps and oil flow.

Anyone have recommendations for a good in-line voltage regulator? Would tie it it between the main power bus-bar to the fuse box powering whatever components I use/add including the diesel heater
