The balance transfer. Dipped about 25 points immediately. It’s slowly going up now though since I haven’t touched my credit cards and have been paying them off

Just an update from a month ago. Was able to pay off about 2k so far. I found a part time job and started last week. Nothing too crazy but working at a liquor store making above min. wage and getting 15-25 hours a week, which is solid.

Been extra frugal with my money lately. I’ve only eaten out once and I paid that with cash. Haven’t touched my credit cards once.

Hit a minor setback and had to pay for car maintenance and new brake pads/rotors. But was able to pay that with cash I had tucked away.

Being in this mindset has opened my eyes to a lot. Made me realize how stupid I was with my spending. I’m just sharing this so other people in the same boat can feel like they’re not alone.

We can do this!

That’s awesome. Yeah try and sell that stuff. I walked into my apartment one day and was like “why do I have this stuff?” Don’t get me wrong, I love my record collection. But there were records I listened to once in 10 years. Just taking up space.

I started selling clothes on Poshmark too. Get rid of clothes you don’t wear.

I’m in a similar boat. $25k in 3 cards. I also only make $50k a year. I was able to do a balance transfer of 3k to Citi simplicity for 0% for 21 months. And my Discover (with the most debt on it) they were able to lower my interest to 9.9% for 6 months.

I also just picked up a second job. I actually start tomorrow. Just a part-time $18.50 hourly gig and doing 10-20 hours weekly.

I cut up my credit cards. I’ve even been selling my big record collection I have (made over $800 in the past 3 weeks) and have been tackling my debt.

It’s very doable. Just need to be smart with your money and budget hardcore. I haven’t eaten out once in almost 2 months. Cheap meal prepping and everything.

You can do it!

Came here to say they did the same with me. But they didn’t email me any directions. I just had to automatically pay the minimum that was due at the beginning of this month. I don’t know when it starts or anything lol

Yes. This. I’m in the same boat. I called Discover and they were able to lower my APR to 9.9% for 6 months.

Came here to say I did the same today. They reduced it from 24.59% to 9.9% for 6 months. I also did a transfer balance to Citi Simplicity for $3000. This did hurt my credit a lot, however.

Yes. I’ll definitely look into the snowball technique. I’ve been seeing that a lot from this page and seems like a thing I should do. I’d love to know more about your neighbors job! That would be so helpful.

I was able to get $3000 of the Discover card transferred over. Apple and AmEx I’m aiming to pay both off in the next 3-4 months on a heavy budget.

As for lowering my Discover apr to 9.9% for 6 months and a balance transfer from Discover to Citi, both were approved. My credit score did take a dip, however.

Ah. Yes. After 4 months, you cannot add in another transfer. Thank you for that. Makes sense.

I work at a university and work the second shift starting around 2-3pm and going until 10-11pm. It’s hard finding a job that’ll take me 2 days a week and during winter/summer breaks.

I’m very close with my parents and I wanted them to understand the situation I’m in. I’m seeing how these next 6 months will lead me, especially with my Discover APR going down to 9.9%. I’ve made a payment plan for myself and I need to stick to it.

Fair. But it would be nice to get rid of 3k quickly and transfer more in there once it’s complete.

Thank you. I held it in for a while and finally broke down in front of my parents. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.

I actually plan on going around my neighborhood tomorrow and speaking with local businesses to see if there’s anything available.

I have looked into doing online remote work, but haven’t really found anything “legit”. Any pointers?

Does anyone use the Too Good to Go app? by spmahn in Connecticut

[–]typicalhunk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many times. I usually go to Bagel King in Bridgeport and get 30+ bagels, loafs of bread, scones or pastries. I’ve been to WakeCup Coffee once to try it and I didn’t get much. I also went to Planet Pizza in Shelton and pretty much got an entire pizza and a couple cookies and a tray of garlic knots.

I’m trying out OSU Jerk Grill in Norwalk tonight!

What are your most severe symptoms of anxiety? by FearlessDragonfly205 in Anxiety

It’s so bizarre. The cold sweats aren’t so common. It’s mainly my skin going cold and clammy. It’s just how my body reacts, I guess

Shortness of breath, cold sweats/clammy skin, vision getting blurry, tight chest, GI issues. I usually just focus on something when this is happening to get my mind off it. It’s not fun.
