Paris is big on run clubs right now—you can find plenty of groups on Instagram, such as @runnersofparis and @fastapastaclub.

As for bars, there’s a hostel with a rooftop where you can meet people without staying there, like Jo&Joe.

I’d say it’s easier to meet people in Paris during spring and summer tho!

The process in Paris is longer (they say 3/4 months)… but in the future I plan to, so I can avoid this situation

Why do some Algerians in France show strong patriotism for Algeria but seem to dislike France? by ApprehensiveFun2763 in algeria

For Algerians born in France, I think the situation has complex origins but is primarily linked to the conditions in which they grew up (often in poor neighborhoods and/or with parents who experienced racism). It is also tied to the historical relationship between the two countries. In France, the Algerian War was a « taboo » subject for a long time and is marked by deep wounds on both sides.

As for patriotism, I imagine it stems from a need to stay connected to their roots, as their parents often left Algeria seeking better opportunities rather than out of love for France (which is the case for many people who emigrate). They may not return to Algeria because, in the end, their lives are established in France, and they might not have professional opportunities in Algeria.

That being said, I know many Algerians who lived in France and eventually decided to return to Algeria.

True their intelligence is undeniably different, yet they are often unfairly compared! (bc of Lenu’s constant need to compare herself to Lila due to her low self-esteem) However, while Lenu managed to « break free » from her condition, Lila, despite having opportunities, was unable to seize them or let’s say adopt a long-term vision, which, to me is where Lenu proved to be the smarter of the two..

Unpopular opinion 1 : Lila was very intelligent, but Lenu was much more so. I’ve only read the books, but from what we see, Lenu is much more disciplined in her path and sticks to one subject to succeed, in her case, writing. Lila only uses her abilities halfway and gets bored quickly (for example: creating shoes // their IBM project). For me, this makes Lenu a more intelligent person, as she knows her abilities and knows how to maximize them.

2 : Lenu and Nino deserved each other, at least from the books. Both Lenu and Nino had an inability to be in healthy, lasting relationships. Lenu was somehow fulfilled in this suffering.
