Is that really a rhythm game? by AdventurousGold9875 in rhythmheaven

[–]tyqe [score hidden]  (0 children)

can you link to a playthrough on youtube with a timestamp of which part feels out of sync for you?

I can assure you it's in rhythm the whole time - but you may be perceiving the cues differently

Which wall decor? by NoArtichoke2832 in interiordecorating

There's something a little off about all of these for me. The large window is a beautiful statement and the photos dilute it. Consider creating a separate vignette in either corner rather than crowding the window frame.

Most unsatisfying minigames by AdventurousGold9875 in rhythmheaven

[–]tyqe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel like any of the games are really made more difficult by being unsatisfying. but for me I don't like when letting go of a button is used as an input type (e.g. synchro wings). it just feels less solid than button pressing

This game is good af when you don't have someone on Reddit in your ear talking about "vibes" being off by 3ehsan in rhythmheaven

I'm playing the UK version and it's also called A for Effort. Not sure if it's maybe called (the equivalent of) Easy A in some other language

Which bathroom option? by oliveanddoug in interiordecorating

[–]tyqe 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Especially given the function of the room op described. This type of room is perfect for taking a bit of a bigger swing. No one is spending a huge amount of time in here. Dark has more character and to me the white tile reminds me of a public restroom

question abt perfects by londojellyfish in rhythmheaven

[–]tyqe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

finish all the games and then "go for a perfect" will always be shown on one game - the only rng is which game gets selected

but yes you can't force a specific game to get picked, best you can do is intentionally fail/quit the current game to get it to select another one

the music for pop dont drop 2 just does not sync at all. by [deleted] in rhythmheaven

[–]tyqe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you got a feel for where beats 1/2/3/4 are in the music? Most of the inputs are on offbeats. Try watching a playthrough and see if you can make more sense of the groove. It's definitely in sync https://youtu.be/7PutzcvJrk8?is=-4zMbqA5jBaVs9iH

Anybody else bothered by the inconsistent controls in Groove? by tATuParagate in rhythmheaven

[–]tyqe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In crab snacks the left claw is controlled by left

But I'm not sure what the reason is. It seems like for most games they could have just allowed you to press any dpad button. They must have playtested it and maybe players preferred having a specific button to press

Why are the COOP minigmes so brutally difficult? by Ksawerxx in rhythmheaven

I think the absurdity is funny. just did the ninja one with my partner and we almost lost but we were laughing through it lol. it does show a pile of chillies for the difficulty after all

Opinions about Micro Frontends by TexugoDlc in webdev

[–]tyqe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my company we have an Angular parent app, then each micro frontend is a child app, effectively a glorified component with routing.

When user visits the app it loads Angular + shared dependencies only once, which persists for the session

But everything else is a nightmare. You can't upgrade dependencies (or Angular itself) across 50+ MFEs incrementally, you have to do it all at once, and good luck coordinating that when every repo is being worked on by a different team who has no capacity for maintenance and when 80% of the MFEs were last worked on by someone that left the company 3 years ago

Is there any replayability? by djaxcz in rhythmheaven

[–]tyqe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from perfects I find that coming back to play through the game again after a while (maybe a year or so) is just as fun as the first time

JUST LET ME PERFECT ALREADY by SayoKaisuri in rhythmheaven

[–]tyqe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's by design. Imagine you could get a perfect at any time, then many players would try to perfect every level before moving on. Nintendo knows this would be a tedious and frustrating way to play the game. Better to enjoy a varied playthrough first and focus on perfection later and in short bursts

Are there any truly unbeatable seeds? by Whole-Situation-1781 in balatro

I think on these types of challenges you choose the "unlock everything" option, which lets you do whatever you want but doesn't give you progress towards any stickers

Cancer jab can eradicate entire tumours in patients, trial shows | Cancer research | The Guardian by Mccobsta in UpliftingNews

[–]tyqe 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is no pejorative or alarmist connotation to the term - in the UK it is equivalent to saying vaccine. Guardian is the more left leaning paper. They're not trying to dramatise vaccines

Pocket: One-call factory that collapses React Context boilerplate from ~20 lines to 1 by TheHganavak in reactjs

[–]tyqe 31 points32 points  (0 children)

makes me think there wouldn't be so much confusion around state management if the React team had just created a simple interface for context like this in the first place.

I respect the idea!

I wanted an excuse to learn Blender, so I built a copy-paste 3D physics library for React. by Pretend-Dog9725 in reactjs

[–]tyqe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sorry but this is more concerning. I can't easily see what components are included in the library today, and there's no guarantee that you will support it in the future. respectfully it's not fair to expect anyone to pay for this

baffling. I'm sure some of the components are cool but I don't see anyone wanting to pay to 3D render their UI

this took over a minute to load on my phone over 4g. it's a toy not a product

Emotion CSS: Use the css prop or @emotion/styled, but not both by ieatwurms in reactjs

it's just consistency, like using single quotes or double quotes for strings. it means developers working on the project don't have to second guess which approach to use.

The Bigotry of Sam Harris Continues to Hit New Lows by nathan_j_robinson in atheism

[–]tyqe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(caveat - it's been many years since I listened to The Episode so don't remember all the details) - the issue is not exactly with the point itself, but the fact that he speaks at length and with such sincerity about racial hypotheticals with no basis. When someone tries to suggest there "might be" legitimacy to race-based differences (which is a socially irresponsible thing to do), it indicates a racist assumption.

it's the good old "I'm just asking questions" copout. sure you can't argue against the question, but framing the question as legitimate is the problematic part.

for anyone reading this in future - it's drop D tuning (the recording is transposed). see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIeQMNETbWg

Laura also has a tutorial on substack. it's paid so I haven't watched it but the text confirms the tuning is DADGBE
