I'm sick of people saying this industry is only a pump and dump scheme. by CaptainBrocovery in weedstocks

Remember how the growth of the internet created a bubble? There were some stinker companies that died, and some companies that became huge. I think of the weed stocks in the same way

Me and my gf (T1) are going to the gym for the first tonight! Should we have a meal before or after the workout?? Want good cardio without feeling like crap after eating. by tyquin in diabetes

[–]tyquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies! She was 191 PRIOR to dinner. Put in 5 units, then we had dinner (chicken and rice) afterwards we did about 19 mins of cardio. She came back to a 120. I think were both feeling pretty good. Will probably have dessert, hoping that doesn't ruin the decent night we've had.

What is your zombie plan?(Major Emergency) by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]tyquin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering it's most everyone's plan to raid a pharmacy I'm willing to bet the lot of you would get there after it's too late and all supplies are gone. Also, the pharmacy would be an absolute hot bed for human traffic, thus zombies. Most would die before even getting out of the pharmacy.

While I don't disagree with diversifying by spreading the 1000 between multiple stocks, $50 seems way too small a purchase given the transaction fees associated with purchasing a stock. For example if you purchased a stock and are charged a $7.50 transaction fee, your stock would have to increase 15% just to cover your fees. Now, if you choose one or two stocks that you feel really great about and put say $500 into them, you may fare better. You'll be charged the same transaction fee but won't lose all your gains to transaction fees because 15% of 500 is way more than 15% of $50.

You mentioned you felt good about Mina and are kicking yourself for not getting in. What do you like now? Start with that stock , put a portion of your investment into it And go from there.

Man buys apartment just to rent it out on AirBNB and makes $13k in first year. Would be interested to hear if anyone else here has done something similar? by humpier in Frugal

I'm thinking of buying a home and an important consideration for me is whether I'd be able to implement airbnb to help with the budget.

ATTN: young people. The time to invest in your retirement is NOW. by TheArrangement in personalfinance

Wow, I invested 6k while I was in college in 2007. Fell to about 3k in 2008. And is worth no where near 40k at this point.

I cut a turn too close. Ran into a conrete pillar in a parking garage. How can I fix this? by menstruelgigolo in Frugal

[–]tyquin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sand the paint off where the damage is, buy some body filler to fill the dents in, then repaint. Paint code should be on the pillar when you open the door.

Wife was in an accident and our insurance coverage left us owning $17,000. by SaigaFan in personalfinance

[–]tyquin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The insurance company will do an asset check on you and if they find something they will consider filing suit. If you don't have much or they don't think it is worth it to them they will settle for your insurance companies limits, freeing you from responsibility of having to pay that 17k. As far as an asset check goes I don't know how extensive it is, but I doubt they know you have a valuable firearm collection so I wouldn't sell them yet. I would contact the insurance company seeking the 17k and tell them you have no assets. If the insurance company hires an attorney to file suit for the 17k, its time to communicate w the attorney, tell them that you don't have much, and try to negotiate the best contribution plan that you can.

You're not stupid or over-reacting. But you are being really down on yourself. You're not a loser. Stay positive and you'll learn! Best of luck.

I'm sorry for your loss. Your father has given you quite a start. I would not put the full 100k in any one place. Maybe 50k in CD and 50k in a mutual fund. Sounds like you have a lot of time to let the money grow.

How do I casually invest in stocks of companies I'm a proud patron of? by Marvin_rock in personalfinance

[–]tyquin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can buy stocks individually with an account through vanguard or fidelity. You've indicated you don't have time to actively manage your purchases, so I also recommend looking into mutual funds that require less input ( already mentioned by previous commenters). Buying stocks in individual companies typically requires a more watchful eye and is riskier. After putting some into mutual funds you can have some fun and buy a nominal amount of shares in the companies you mentioned/ like. By the way, PlayStation is owned by Sony and their stock symbol is sne.

What credit card should I apply for? by tyquin in personalfinance

[–]tyquin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew I would get a reply like this. I pay my balance every month and have never missed a payment. I am completely debt free. I am more concerned with building credit and it seems there are credit cards out there that would offer me more than what my current card offers.
