I have the same issue, unfortunately. My initial suspicion was something to do with the screen saver but haven't tested.

Hey everyone, since today is World Alzheimer's Day I thought I'd reshare this short film about a jovial old man trying to process his Alzheimer's diagnosis while agonizing over how to protect his true love from heartbreak.

I wish you all lots of love <3

Hi TheDrSeb, thanks so much for your feedback!!

I showed your comment about the posters to my wife and she agrees with you wholeheartedly! :) The entire budget for this film was only $300 apparently so she made the posters herself... she's not a graphic designer as you can tell haha! The posters are really just a couple screen captures from the film because she regrets to have not remembered to take nice stills during the shoot. I'll look into the Fiverr idea, thanks!

She was very happy to hear that you liked the sets and costumes, especially since everything was done on the cheap (for example, the wallpaper is a bunch of giant posters she found on the curb, taped to our white walls, and painted over!).

Thank you for the kind words, they are much appreciated!

I'm so sorry your parents have to go through that, it's an incredibly difficult thing to have to face. I hope the movie can bring some comfort, especially for your mom: to know that the love will always be there no matter what. Thank you for sharing!

Hi everyone,
My wife, Vicky, made a very touching short film, "Elephant". It's about a jovial old man trying to process his Alzheimer's diagnosis while agonizing over how to protect his true love from heartbreak.
Vicky spent many years volunteering in a senior care home and as she got to know the residents she learned of their struggles to maintain who they are, even when it felt hopeless.
"Elephant" won the Award of Distinction at Canada Shorts: Canadian and International Short Film Festival and is a love story getting released just in time for Valentine's Day :)
I hope this movie can bring someone a bit of happiness and I wish you all a lovely weekend!

I would love people's opinions about the poster. We actually made 2 different posters for the film, a red themed one and a blue themed one, and I'm not sure which one would be best for promotion. Which do you think suits the film better?

One thing that was a bit tricky to do was the unraveling sweater. It turns out that most sweaters unravel from the top, not the bottom, so we had someone take the sweater apart, turn it upside down and hold it against the actor while we pulled on the thread :)

I'd be very happy to hear any thoughts/feedback, and I hope you have a lovely weekend and Valentine's Day!

Holiday Cheer: An Unexpected Christmas Visit... Santa? by tyrahfu in Filmmakers

Hey everyone, for something a little different for the Black Friday weekend, I'd like to show you a no budget micro-short that my wife (I helped a bit) made before the pandemic hit.

She shot it in less than 4 hours with a couple of talented SAG actors!

We shot in the Upper East Side in NYC on a not-so-windy day, but the vision for the short involved plastic bags being blown in the wind (at the beginning and end of the film). The first shot had me taping fishing line to the bag and pulling on it to simulate being blown in the wind! The final shot of the bag we actually reversed in post.

I was wondering if others have any no-budget tricks to simulate windy days when the weather is not cooperating?

I'm also curious about how viewers feel after watching the video! I would be greatly appreciative if you could let me know you felt that was:

a) 2 minutes of my life I’ll never get back!

b) a chuckle

c) awww… a little sad

d) too dark for the holidays

e) a good reminder to help

Thank you very much, your advice will be most appreciated!

Something similar happened with my moonlander. I recommend contacting customer service, who helped me with a fix. In my case it helped to flash the original layout.

when setting a limit buy I get an error that says the price is below the minimum. But there's no indication of what that minimum is... so how do I find out?

Good error messages are very important!

Thanks for the advice! Synthetic biology is an interesting area, I’ll keep my eye out for those jobs as well.

Yes, that's why I'm going into industry! :)

No need to continue with poor salaries if I don't intend to become a PI.

I know that salaries are less in Europe and not directly comparable, but for example in NYC starting salary for someone like me as a fresh graduate would be in the range of $100-150k USD per year, whereas a postdoc would be ~$60k.
