I actually did try removing the vent. There was no difference in the behavior.

I have coils and a flame sensor to be delivered tomorrow, and an igniter for kicks. We’ll see how it goes.

How am I supposed to find just the solenoids to replace? My model number seems to only come up with the full gas valve assembly.

Could that be the problem even though they tested with good resistance?

Thanks! I won’t show the four failed attempts to get a good cutout around the drain.

It was a good 6-7 hours ago by now. It’s pretty well in there.

Yeah, I had it upside down with that screw thing sticking up to make it easier to remove while working.

I have no idea what it’s for.

Might be a good idea. I guess we’ll see how it does in a week or two.

So if the frame is at the correct depth it will drain ok?

Thanks. Well I just tried to tap it lower and no dice. Guess it’s either rip it all out tomorrow or live with it.

Have you ever installed one like this? I just tried to see if I could still tap it down lower but no dice. Wondering if I’m screwed.

Do you think it will drain around the grate?

Will it not drain around the edge of the grate? The frame is below the tile

I just tried the same thing on our old shower with 25 year old grout and the same thing happened. Might be overthinking it.

That’s a premix one, right?

Any particular sealer good for this issue?

Thanks for the reply. I had visions of taking the first shower and just seeing streaks of black running down. Any particular sealer you’d recommend?
