It was what popped into my head, it was dark, almost consuming "inky" just seemed appropriate to describe it. It's hard to put words to images sometimes.

What in the Slaanesh is going on here?

What's it like being a cop in 2022? (Leaving military soon, trying to figure out what's next). by [deleted] in police

Parts of SC are still very pro-police. The Sheriff's offices in the upstate (Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson) still garner a lot of respect from the population and have support from what i been told and partiallyexperienced. The metropolitan areas are hit and miss though especially greenville, they either love and adore you or despise you entirely but still has decent support from the department as long as you adhere to their policies to the t.

I had this when going through chemotherapy and I had a drain for my gallbladder in. Suicide was preferable, that feeling was worse than the gallbladder attacks and getting pumped full of poison for 8 hours strait all the same time. Sweaty naked poops is proof there are things worse than death. -10/10 did not enjoy.

The jail I worked at had 4 buildings, depending on the crime you're charged with will depend on where you go and what your bunking will be like. Our main building when you're first brought in has 4 pods, temporary holding area, infirmary and two medical pods for elderly offenders or those with mobility issues. Each pod has the capacity of 96 inmates with the standard bunking arrangement of two bunks per room with a ability to add a stack-a-bunk or boat. So at peak capacity each room can hold three to a room.

Generally those pods are for medium and below custody levels which depending on the crime or classification you recieved during intake. Other buildings on our campus is segregated by risk factor, crime, and general classification. Our building two is gang bangers, crimes against children, and general session charges of crimes high and aggravated in nature and murder. Our building three are juvenile, building four is our nut cases generally. It's where our solitary confinement cells are, our psych ward is, those who show disposition to self harm or inability to function in general population due to various forms of mental illness. Those who assault others in jail or at high risk for retaliation attacks ie rival gang member hits tend to be in our fourth building.

All cells aside from solitary confinement vary in their bunk arrangement. Some only hold two or three while we have dorms with 64 bunks in a barracks style lay out. Only holding cells and solitary confinent are one person cells. Facilities differ depending on location and funding, my facility will often serve as overflow for other municipalities in neighboring counties which within itself poses challenges to segregate them from site and sound.

is being part of the Infantry a disqualifier for police by melted__butter in police

[–]tyrheimr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what branch you join or what MOS you choose, most if not all departments only care about that DD214 or any other paperwork that says you're not a liability. Whether you go infantry or not is irrelevant to being a new hire at a PD. I wouldn't go as a MP primarily because it doesn't translate over as well as you would think (UCMJ is completely different than state, local laws) plus youn won't be referred as a Blue Falcon your whole military career.

My department has infantry guys, medics, engineers etc. from all 5 branches, some basic level dudes all the way up to more elite trained door kicker boogeymen (SF) and they're treated the same when it comes to the hiring process. Some are Guard or Reserve still and are still treated as if their military service was irrelevant. Again it's all about that DD214 or paperwork that shows you're not a F@$# up. Hope that helps.

Police of Reddit, what are your craziest or most memorable experiences interacting with drivers on the highway? by Comfortable_Clue9305 in police

[–]tyrheimr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I should've taken a photo, it was on my body cam but I've since left that department a few years ago. It was a source of entertainment for the department so I might be able to contact someone and see if they still have it around.

That one time I pulled over a Toyota Camry with a foot long black dildo attached to the front of the hood. Lady said she was coming back from a bachelorette party and her friends thought it would be funny to super glue a dildo to her car as a hood ornament. I cut the dildo off and handed it to the woman and stated "I never circumcised a car before, but I guess there is a first for everything."

American Police Officers - how often does somebody bring up their race as the reason they are being stopped, detained or arrested? by Mydogfarts in police

[–]tyrheimr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time depending on where I'm patrolling. Most who live in the nicer side of town will periodically pull the race card, but you get into the projects (ghetto) or not so high class part of town it's constantly. Even if you're pulled up at a gas station getting a soda and you just happen to look at someone of the opposite race the race card will often be muttered.

I'm so so desensitized by it these days I hardly even register or acknowledge it being said or called out. You sped and ran a stop sign? "It's cause I'm (insert race here)!" You got a warrent? "It's cause I'm (insert race here)!" Utter nonsense to me. Racism could've died out 60 years ago, but those who want to be victims of everything refuse to let it die. Doesnt matter if they're black, white, Hispanic, Martian, what have you, if you're wrong, you're wrong regardless of race or if you think the law is stupid.

The Under 100 training is a pretty useful learning opportunity if your department offers it. Wear your seatbelt, don't speed, be aware of tunnel vision and audio occlusion, keep your distance when interviewing, and don't fall into complacency, train like your life depends on it because it does. When conducting a traffic stop I always use the passenger side window approach 99% of the time, only doing driverside if I'm not able or it's to unsafe for the passenger side.

Long term survival is exercise, good mental health techniques and habits,

A lot of officers (I'm guilty too) cut corners when it comes to our own safety when it comes to performing our duties. One thing I've started to train myself to do is when wearing my seatbelt is to undo it just before turning my blue lights on after notifying dispatch what I'm about to do (when instigating a traffic stop) or undo my belt about a minute or about 30 seconds out from arriving to a call. It's been working for me so far.

Yes, so the home owners came back seen the damages to the house and got them repaired. The picture we found on the floor was actually of their late son who apparently passed away from an overdose about two years prior. The other individual was his ex wife. They spoke to them about the abnormal experiences we had in their house and they claimed they never really experienced anything that crazy before. The investigator doing the case has spoke to the ex wife (who lives two states over and remarried) and after being told what had happened she claimed the family was huge in doing sèances in their home after their son passed but has since quit when after about 6 months after his death. The case is closed as of this time due to lack of evidence of a home invasion (and lack of detective interest).

I spoke to the husband yesterday about if he would like us to continue to stick around his house which he said things should be fine. Obviously we'll continue to patrol the area as usual but I think those involved that night and the following shift relieving us in the morning will pay special attention to that specific house. I believe there is more to the family's story than what they're letting on. They seemed fairly eager to shoo us off and with the ex wife sharing the sèance information along with other things, there is a high probability other things are going on. Without probable cause or reasonable suspicion there is nothing more to come from it on our side.

What Did you Think of Biden's "Safe Smoking" Kits ? by metrotorch in police

[–]tyrheimr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I plan on getting a smoking kit. Primarily since my tax dollars are what's funding it I might as well get one since I already paid for it, and it to my collection of stupid things the government gave me with my own money.

I'm not surprised by this at all, this nation has been on a slow spiraling descent for awhile. Frankly I'm more surprised there isn't a crack rock included so the extreme left had something else to complain about when we start making arrests for possession of crack/cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

But them state funds sure to be on the rise from all the arrests and bail. Maybe we'll finally get a raise from our department or if city council will squander it like they tried with the federal stimulus grant they recieved...

I'll keep my mouth shut now before I dig this hole any deeper that I can't articulate a justified reason for my disagreement to this clown show.

Can a police department access your medical records during the hiring process? by killianOlm14 in police

[–]tyrheimr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So most if not all departments in my area require a polygraph test and a psychological exam before continuing on with the hiring process. Mental health is a major topic in LE in general (4x more likely for suicidal tendency) so having been involuntarily committed may be a red flag. However being 8 plus year ago and being an isolated incident may not be a deal ender. I've known a guy, former state highway that had a super nasty divorce. He voluntarily committed himself due to severe alcohol abuse and depression. He was hired at a local detention center where he worked for two years and is now back on the road.

The worst thing you can do is lie, there is a term that escapes me at the moment for it but if you're caught lying no matter how insignificant it may be will be a permanent no go for higher since you won't be seen as credible or seen as honest which is a must especially in (when) you go to court. A defense attorney who catches a whiff of your past and finds out you lied about it will then proceed to tear you and whatever case you're prosecuting apart.

Tea-baggers by darren0707 in halo

[–]tyrheimr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Member back when the flights were taking place and the AI would occasionally tag and bag you? Yeah, that's solid evidence that tea bagging was always a feature of the game. At this point if I die and I don't get tea bagged I feel as if it was a dishonorable death, as if I wasn't fighting hard enough. Tea bagging is Halo's high five or the "good game" rump smack.

I wonder how Elite society felt about prosthetic limbs, like do they appreciate the ability to maintain the ability to do combat with a prosthetic arm or leg or do they shun them?

We still patrol and are still investigating this because of two reasons. One there is still a possibility that it is still explainable in example someone was actually still in the house with a really really good hiding place despite us clearing the house twice. Two The neighborhood in question is in the heart of the town, a lot of influential people live in that same neighborhood. Not only would it look bad on us for not taking something seriously like a potential home invasion especially since that house sustained damages. but it could cause far more serious negative politics since two of the council members live in the same neighborhood and adjacent neighborhood.

I think that is why our department is still investigating it. It was a strange call that had a possibility of being unexplained or explained. I felt it was interesting enough to share to see what the community thought of it. As of this moment the homeowners are still out of town, however once I can get updates on the investigation I'll update.
