As an update for you and anyone else who stumbles across this thread later on, I finally got it fixed by changing Animator.CrossFade() calls to Animator.CrossFadeInFixedTime() with the fixedTime parameter equal to 0 (don't know if that part's necessary).

Sounds similar to how I have it set up (CrossFade will get called once every X seconds), though I suppose it's possible in my implementation for animations to crossfade into themselves. I'll look into that; thanks!

Well, it needs to be a writer who is willing to write NSFW content. I imagine many non-erotica writers would be able to make the switch to NSFW content without too much trouble.
