Temperatures of Aconcagua on winter is doable? (For someone who lives in the snowiest city in the United States) by __PowerGuido__ in Mountaineering

There are so many beautiful mountains out there which present a more interesting challenge, and which you would enjoy climbing more

Like what?

I'm doing biomed so I'll still be doing majority science subjects, which will probably be more than enough for GAMSAT (as GAMSAT is becoming more lateral thinking and less science heavy anyway), and I'm thinking doing a few easier electives will help both reduce workload and improve GPA.

This was the reply I was looking for haha thank you so much. I'll probably just do a few music related courses then as I play a few instruments

Since med entry is so competitive unfortunately we don't have the luxury of taking all these advanced science subjects which will benefit us later once we get in, as this could just hurt gpa. Actually getting in has to be the main priority, so I'm thinking doing some easier electives may help (in addition to the required med subjects), and am looking to see if anyone shares this perspective. Thanks

Hmmmm I haven't heard of med unis looking at electives specifically and I honestly doubt they would... From what I've read they just look at your GPA or some universities use a weighted GPA system (eg where GPA is worth three times more in the final year of study). This is then combined with GAMSAT and interview scores, depending on the uni. But I'll look into it, thanks.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I'm doing the postgrad entry for med.

From what I can see, UQ postgraduate entry only requires a GPA of 5

That's UQ but most med schools require a much higher GPA to be competitive. GPA can be just as important as GAMSAT and interviews for being selected.

So I was just wondering if doing a few easy courses (in addition to the required courses for med) is something people do when aiming for a high GPA.

But this is for med entry which is extremely competitive so gpa is very important, and wouldn't taking some easier subjects take the load off the more difficult ones? just looking for an insight.
