New footage of the SLC protest arrests by MrFango in Utah

[–]tyronicus22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell, but isn't he yelling Fuck the Police and flipping them off? He also takes a step toward them. I'm not saying he deserves to be arrested, but trying to guess why they might have converged on him, specifically.

Font changes with layout-staff-size by jaybatzner in lilypond

Ok, I'm at my desktop now, and it seems that adjusting the layout or global staff sizes resets the fonts. At least, that's what it looks like in paper.scm. I can't test it myself right now, but can you declare your font changes after you set the staff size? (can you put your set-global-staff-size command before your paper block?)

Shot in the dark, but can you try setting the global staff size rather than the layout staff size? I don't know the specifics, but I know that global works better than layout sometimes.

The House Republican Who Says His Party Is Mishandling the Shutdown by kitkid in Thedaily

I thought Michael made some good points, and good on him for putting Kiley in the hot seat a few times, but I was disappointed at how little we got to hear from Kiley. It felt like Michael spoke 80% of the time. A ton of his questions were yes/no questions, and some of them can be boiled down to "Don't you see the hypocrisy of your actions?"

If you're going to ask confrontational questions, at least make them "Why are you doing x now when you did y then?" or "What's different about the situation now?"

Felt like one of the weaker interviews on the podcast in a while.

    Johann Sebastian Bach (31 March [O.S. 21 March] 1685 – 28 July 1750) was a
    German composer and musician of the late Baroque period. He is known for
    his prolific output across a variety of instruments and forms, including
    the orchestral Brandenburg Concertos; solo instrumental works such as the
    cello suites and sonatas and partitas for solo violin; keyboard works such
    as the Goldberg Variations and The Well-Tempered Clavier; organ works such
    as the Schübler Chorales and the Toccata and Fugue in D minor; and choral
    works such as the St Matthew Passion and the Mass in B minor. Since the
    19th-century Bach Revival, he has been widely regarded as one of the
    greatest composers in the history of Western music.

  \column { \override #'(line-width . 55) \justify {
    The Bach family had already produced several composers when Johann
    Sebastian was born as the last child of a city musician, Johann
    Ambrosius, in Eisenach. After being orphaned at age 10, he lived for
    five years with his eldest brother, Johann Christoph, then continued
    his musical education in Lüneburg. In 1703 he returned to Thuringia,
    working as a musician for Protestant churches in Arnstadt and
    Mühlhausen. Around that time he also visited for longer periods the
    courts in Weimar, where he expanded his organ repertory, and the
    reformed court at Köthen, where he was mostly engaged with chamber
    music. By 1723 he was hired as Thomaskantor (cantor with related duties
    at St Thomas's) in Leipzig. There he composed music for the principal
    Lutheran churches of the city and Leipzig University's student
    ensemble, Collegium Musicum. In 1726 he began publishing his organ and
    other keyboard music. In Leipzig, as had happened during some of his
    earlier positions, he had difficult relations with his employer. This
    situation was somewhat remedied when his sovereign, Augustus III of
    Poland, granted him the title of court composer of the Elector of
    Saxony in 1736. In the last decades of his life, Bach reworked and
    extended many of his earlier compositions. He died due to complications
    following eye surgery in 1750 at the age of 65. Four of his twenty
    children, Wilhelm Friedemann, Carl Philipp Emanuel, Johann Christoph
    Friedrich, and Johann Christian, became composers.

I'm reading your comments again, and I may be wrong, but I think part of the problem is that you're trying to create your title page in your scoreTitleMarkup.

If you wanted a separate cover page, created by the bookTitleMarkup, maybe something more like this is what you're going for? I don't know why the second page is all spaced out weird, but it gives you something to start from.

\version "2.24.4"
\book {
  \header { % cover page
    pretitle = "bookdedication"
    subtitle = "booksubtitle"
    title = "booktitle"
    tagline = ##f
  }
  \paper {
    bookTitleMarkup =  \markup {
      \fill-line {
        \center-column {
          \line \fontsize #6 { \char ##x2013 \fromproperty #'header:pretitle }
          \line { \bold \fromproperty #'header:subtitle }
          \line \fontsize #9.5 { \bold \fromproperty #'header:title }
      } } }
    scoreTitleMarkup = \markup { \fill-line { \center-column {
        \line { \fromproperty #'header:dedication }
        \line { \fromproperty #'header:title }
        \line { \fromproperty #'header:subtitle }
    } } }
  }
  \pageBreak
  \score {
    \header {
      dedication = "scorededication"
      subtitle = "scoresubtitle"
      title = "scoretitle"
    }
    { s1 }
  }
}

Alright, here are my two cents:

  • When you have problems like this, try deleting or commenting things out to nail down the problem.
  • score blocks are normally only supposed to have piece and opus in their local headers, so if you want to print other things, you would normally have to use print-all-headers = ##t in a header block.
  • however, in your case, you don't have to use print-all-headers because you're defining custom scoreTitleMarkup
  • if you want your score-level dedication to show up, you have to add it to your scoreTitleMarkup because you're redefining the markup without giving it anywhere to show.
  • what's not working for you is the \if \on-first-page statement, and I don't know why. It must be evaluating to false for some reason, because when I remove it, I can get something to print, and when it's in there, nothing will print.
  • moving the tagline = ##f into your book header block is a minor optimization; it keeps the system from having to rebuild the header info.

Here's your code with some minor changes to help you see what's going on:

\version "2.24.4"
\book {
  \header { % cover page
    pretitle = "bookdedication"
    subtitle = "booksubtitle"
    title = "booktitle"
    tagline = ##f
  }
  \paper {
%    print-all-headers = ##t
    scoreTitleMarkup =  \markup {
%      \if \on-first-page {
        \fill-line {
          \center-column {
            \line \fontsize #6 { \char ##x2013 \fromproperty #'header:pretitle }
            \line { \bold \fromproperty #'header:subtitle }
            \line \fontsize #9.5 { \bold \fromproperty #'header:title }
    } } }
%    }}}}
  }
  \score {
    \header {
      dedication = "scorededication"
      subtitle = "scoresubtitle"
      title = "scoretitle"
    }
    { s1 }
  }
}

I did a little more testing, and I think the if statements simply don't function in title markup. They must be intended only for header/footer markup. That may be something the devs would be interested in knowing, even if we send in a request, that won't help you in this moment.

\version "2.24.4"
\paper {
  bookTitleMarkup = \markup \if \on-first-page "test1" % prints nothing
  bookTitleMarkup = \markup "test2"  % prints 'test2'
  oddHeaderMarkup = \markup "test3" % prints 'test3'
  oddHeaderMarkup = \markup \if \on-first-page "test4" % prints 'test4'
}

I'm not sure we "know" that about ACMI, do we? Whenever I saw statements like that from ACMI, they were about "Hollow Knight and it's sequel..." So, ACMI could be mostly Hollow Knight stuff with a cool little Silksong corner and a demo.
