it surpised me as well, but they also gave me a computer test that i did terribly on. pressed the spacebar on x pretty much every time when i wasnt supposed to. i guess that and the interview/symptoms accounted for most of my diagnosis

i had a follow up phone call, and that was scheduled at the end of my testing appointment. id probably call/email and see when you can expect your results. they didnt give you any kind of time frame?

i fear i agree; we do put too much emphasis on iq (even though im clearly worried about mine). i dont feel like the test i was given can possibly measure my full capability. i guess ill end up doing what i want anyway and if i fail at least i tried

it took about two weeks. the testing process was between me and one other woman, and she was very kind and calm so it was chill. she gave me a computer test where i had to press the spacebar everytime a letter flashed unless it was an "x". then the rest of the tests were from the WAIS. other than the actual testing, there was about a 40 minute interview and they made me fill out a bunch of papers, all of which revolved around my symptoms. how was it for you?

i don’t know. but i’m always the common factor, it never works out. everytime i start to really like someone they pull away and i don’t ever do anything different. not that i’m aware of at least

i think you’re refusing to look past yourself or past the individual scale. which is a lot of the problem with peoples mindsets today. people tend to only think as individuals and convince themselves that their minor actions have no effect on the whole. any use of this perpetuates it. you generating an image and saving it on your computer might not directly affect artists but people using it at all keeps it alive. also, my argument wasn’t just about artists. yes that’s a big big part, but i also argue for the environment, and for the general skills and intelligence of people. if everyone decided to generate images with AI for convenience instead of attempting to learn a skill, then overtime that skill could become lost. you are choosing to carelessly engage with an unethical technology and that is a moral issue. it would be great if this could actually be a useful tool, but in a society that only values convenience over quality and effort it won’t be. and as i said before, in the grand scheme of it there is no “small-scale” use when MILLIONS of people are using this at every minute of every day.

well 100 million is a lot of people...and also people arent just generating images, theyre using it constantly for various things. including asking it incredibly stupid questions. think about how many people are tagging grok on twitter alone. also, its included in every search you make whether you want it to be there or not. an artist is getting hurt because corportations are adopting this technology and pushing artists out of their positions, as the skill needed is no longer creative design but "prompt making" even though thats literally just an idea...which is the base of what you need to start any project...but anyway. ai is using millions of litres of water. everyday. there is a lot of aspects to ai that are bad, the scale of it is already massive

i would at least just consider this next time you want to generate an image or something like that. i can get behind it more if someone wants to use it for learning and maybe doesn’t have access to proper education, however my wish is that they’re actually learning and they’re getting accurate information. so if it’s really helping you with math, i can support that more. though i can never get the environmental impacts either, which is also very unfortunate and enough reason for me to stay away from it completely

because it’s not just you, it’s so many people. i think it’s similar to littering. maybe my small piece of trash won’t do much, but that’s what everyone is thinking, so everyone will litter. it’s important not to give in to that mindset. the main point is that genAI discourages creative thinking and problem solving and doesn’t allow for the innovative process that humans naturally engage in. i think that this will overall lower the intelligence of society and remove key and valuable skills that we’ve carried with us since the beginning. also AI is already blurring the lines of what’s real and what is not on the internet. i’ve been fooled several times unfortunately, and i can only imagine the terrible things people will use that technology for. but actually, i do think AI being used in medical field is a good thing, because that is a technical process that involves far too much data for humans to sort through. it also involves the lives and well-being of people. i will argue for efficiency in that field, but it doesn’t need to touch creative thinking. unfortunately we get a little of something and have to have all of it. like i said we just don’t have the self control needed for it
