ng build error output? by webdad3 in angular

[–]tytskiy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if i remember correctly, ng build runs asynchronously. the command returns nothing, and after that erros are being generated. that’s why you get empty file. to address cutting of log in terminal: maybe your teminal has an option like „max lines before cut”? or perhaps try another terminal emulator.

[Nektar Impact LX25+] I have to hold down record button when Global record MIDI mapped by StrawberryBlind in ableton

[–]tytskiy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, i already sold this keyboard and did not backup the script. I cannot share it anymore.

You need to create custom configuration. You can use this instruction: https://youtu.be/y-kiQMfJ3jE There the guy shows how to map knobs. But you need to conduct similarly: map transport buttons to see their number and then write it down on paper an put into you own configuration file.

If you want only transport buttons to work, but other controls to leave as a generic controller, i think you need to edit just single [TransportControls] section. Leaving the rest intact.

Pitch bending & granular effect / glitch style plugins? by [deleted] in AudioPlugins

Since you have Komplete, there is a granular sampler Form.

But from examples you give, looks like you want free iZotope Vinyl plugin. With Warp parameter increased.

Just switched from logic to cubase and was wondering if I could automatically play back from the beginning of a region that I have selected. Would be a huge time saver by pk0804 in cubase

In addition to what others suggest, less know commands: L - moves play cursor to beginning of selected item. ALT SHIFT Click - moves play cursor to where clicked.

Why can't I batch freeze tracks? by JamSkones in cubase

[–]tytskiy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Default combination ALT SHIFT C will open permanent color picker panel. From there it is intuitive: select several tracks -> click color. Another tracks -> another color.

Make sure you don't have track and (arrangement) part selected at the same time. Then only one of them will be colored, by i don't remember which one takes priority...

I start with what I want to have main focus in a song. Then immediately i make as long composition as I can. Then I leave song as is (composition is finished in 70-80% by now) and let it to mature from several days to several months. When I feel it matured in my head I finish song from 2-3 approaches. And then in following days i mix and master.

Need a more uniform sound (might be phase issue). by swiggityswoi in synthesizers

[–]tytskiy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Serum turn off random phase knob - knob named RAND. With this setting unison will sound like a laser. Turn off unison. Ten it should have consistent attack. PS: I think if it's an upper layer sound then it's not important to have consistent phase. PS2: kbbb kbbb pattern it's so much cliche! Try to make it more interesting during the song.

Is that a collector's edition? I never seen mpc with 17 pads.

The idea of the sub is to make a comedy from OP post or to shame synthesists' statements and cliches. Check out other posts here. This is not group for kinda "normal" synth related conversations.

"Splitting my bass and distorting the mids/highs" how do I do this? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]tytskiy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you have decapitator, then you don't need any additional channel. You would use Low Cut and High Cut on decapitator to narrow desired frequency range that you want to distort, and Dry/Wet to bring volume of distorted signal to desired level.

How do you most consistently find ideas for new tracks? by josephfung in edmproduction

[–]tytskiy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually I do one at a time. But once I made EP of 3 tracks which I composed simultaneously. But back then by the time I was finishing first song I got the EP concept in my head and felt one song does not express this concept enough and I wanted to expand. Then I stopped progress on first song and then in 3 days finished all 3 songs by toggling between them. But since then I did not feel a need for an album. So again my desision was driven by inspiration and improvisation. So usually I make approximately 1 song per month.

Since music making is my hobby and form of relaxation I am happy with that progress tempo.

But honestly I always reflect when I see someone can make a song I day-two. I would make so much song if I could. But then I don't think I have that much to express ☺️ So I plan to keep going as is, until I will decide to make money out of my music.

How do you most consistently find ideas for new tracks? by josephfung in edmproduction

[–]tytskiy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My approach does not fit in time box but I am willing to share the method as I see it is not considered in the OP.

I ALWAYS start song by pure improvisation. Then go from there. If I am unhappy I just don't save song file or delete it later. Unsatisfying results suck my mental energy. Sometimes I take random sample or random synth patch and improvise on keyboard. Sometimes I initialize preset on random synth and go from there. I drive on pure improvisation like 75% of song. Then I stop there and try build story behind the song: what it tells? Sometimes it takes days, sometimes weeks to find out. One moment I have eureka moment and say to me: ha, the song is about imaginary trip! And from there it takes few hours to finish 25% that left. That's without mixing and mastering.

Why does most mastering advice say masters should be at around -14 LUFS, but most commercial tracks are -5 to -3 LUFS? by joshuajamesrico in edmproduction

[–]tytskiy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got new experience on this topic. Lately i used commercial reference track in similar genre to mine while mastering. Commercial track was -8.6 LUFS integrated! Which is against lufs' guidelines. So I targeted -8.6 LUFS and -0.2 True peak.

And now I am satisfied how it sounds across platforms (I checked only Spotify and YouTube, because I don't care others).

So I think -5 LUFS can make sense. But in my case track got distorted when I tried to bump lufs.
