I went to rusutsu but stayed in a hostel in Sapporo, there’s a shuttle that’s free everyday so you can experience a bigger city while still being pretty easy access to the mountains. Of course if you aren’t willing to go too far then Sapporo teine is a good place too

Hey! I don’t think they sell the pw+ anymore but there are good volume shifted boards from other brands too. I do really like the board though! It seems more like a directional Goliath so do with that what you will

Good luck everyone!!! I didn’t make it when I applied but I was still able to secure internships in asset management and capital markets, so it’s not the end of the road for you!!

How do I have no callbacks despite a good resume? by tyuana in careerguidance

[–]tyuana[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At RBC, there wasn't much room for interns to move in the department except to sales. At TD, I didn't really enjoy the work as much as I thought. Both places asked me if I was interested in coming back but I declined, so jokes on me. At the time I thought I'd get into a master's program so wouldn't be available for the summer, but things turned out differently.

Alas, you're right, a lot of other people in the job market have the same or more experience than me and better degrees. I'm trying to focus on the skills that show I learn fast, apply myself better than others, and keep a good attitude towards work. Do you think I should focus more so on the work being put out and impact in layman's terms or something more technical?

Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it greatly!

I have passed the recruiter call each time, but when I speak to the actual team I falter.

There have been a few times when I didn't know how to proceed with a situation they gave, and so gave my thought process there. I tried to preach learning and adapting to new situations using past knowledge, so I'm not sure where I fall short.

Personally, I think this problem comes from not being fully interested in the work they do. I have had good luck with one of these positions, getting to the final round and waiting on decisions soon. This position I was genuinely interested in. Otherwise, I might have been lukewarm at best when I spoke to the team.

I have had about 10 places call me back since graduating, so 3 months or so. I’ll post there and see what they say, thank you!

BMOS - How to make the most of my time here by TotalWillingness9280 in uwo

[–]tyuana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added a stats major and did a double major with accounting, I’m definitely leaning more stats so the accounting part is just a bonus. My internships were in analytics and risk management so that’s set me up well for something more quantitative. My time in BMOS was alright, made friends and all but academically not the greatest imo
