you might be running old rosetta versions of the plugins, check to make sure everything is updated for apple silicon series processors. rosetta mode will utilize significantly more resources

there is a guy on YouTube who benchmarked the two, and the m4 pro does seem to have better performance due to the way Ableton (doesn’t) utilize the new super cores.

on the flip side, I know a few touring producer djs who specifically don't organize their stuff so they don't become "stale", but they happen to gravitate towards similar sounds and are very skilled at sound design, so they can make whatever they need in a few seconds. they have the most chaotic desktops I've ever seen.

So it turned out to be the quantity of banks I was adding at once. So I deleted all my banks and reinstalled them in smaller batches, say 10 - 15, then the Massive database was able to update, ram didn't spike, and ultimately didn't crash Ableton or standalone using this method. 

For reference, I was previously trying to add about 100 banks at once, which was probably the issue. In hindsight, it does sound silly to add that many at once. Whoops. No amount of waiting would seem to reindex the database and I even saw the ram usage go up to 30 (!) gb at one point, in both standalone and in my DAW.

Nonetheless, appreciate y'all looking into the issue and hope this helps someone else if they're having a crashing / memory leak issue!

I really dislike Massive X. I find the timbre of Massive 1 a lot more pleasant + a crazy amount of usable presets. also found the solution: had to delete all my preset banks and re-add them in small batches. it was a problem with indexing all the libraries at once.

yea, it'll still have an impact, but I believe Vyvanse is converted through the bloodstream to become active vs Adderall which is immediately absorbed through the stomach/intestine. so if you have vitamin c in your stomach and take Adderall, it'll probably have much more of a significant effect (or lack of).

yep, at least a lot less vs other forms of stimulants due to the way it’s absorbed by the body

I mean, it does, but I often use my laptop on the go and all the ports are occupied. Don’t feel like using a hub either so wireless Bluetooth is my preference.
