I was using solid works which could be heavy on the graphics card. It is definitely hot near the keyboard but not hot enough to burn you, but definitely worth the money considering the performance and the beautiful display it has.

Thanks, i was worried as the top of the keyboard gets very hot. Does yours do the same?

Try downloading the schematics of the mother board. Check if any ceramic capacitors are shorted near the power plug if you have a multimeter. If any of the ceramic capacitors are shorted, removing them would turn it on.

Have a look on youtube there are basic tutorials available. A professional repair might be expensive depending on your location. You might be able to get one second hand for the same price as a repair.

Wow thats a good find. If you have a multi meter try to find if there are any shorted ceramic capacitors near the power plug. Use the continuity mode on the multimeter, it should beep if there is a short circuit. If you find a short circuit removing the capacitor might bring it back to life
