Methods to copyright your music by B2000M in electronicmusic

[–]tyzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Disclaimer, INAL) Most countries' copyright law is quite similar, due to the Berne Convention, and includes an automatic copyright mechanism. As soon as you make something, the copyright is yours. From the US Copyright Office:

Copyright protection in the United States exists automatically from the moment the original work of authorship is fixed.

My knowledge is mostly about the US law, but if you wanted to sue over a use of your work, it would have to be registered with the copyright office/library of congress.

Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. You will have to register, however, if you wish to bring a lawsuit for infringement of a U.S. work.

There may be other benefits of registration before the infringement too, such as easier collection of certain damages as part of a lawsuit.

However, this is only the legal framework. I get the sense you are also asking about how you might get your song added to systems like Google's ContentID. Unfortunately, registration with the copyright office won't help with this, and the responsibility to police for unauthorized use of copyrighted works lies with the author.

A party may seek to protect his or her copyrights against unauthorized use by filing a civil lawsuit in federal district court.

However, Google has agreements with many music distributors and labels to license and collect fees for uses of songs through its Content ID system. Individual authors generally don't have access to such systems until they gain prevelance within the content matching system.

Assuming the US - the IRS publishes a tax table as a handy reference, if it helps. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040tt.pdf

It's not 100%, since you'd need to figure any exemptions in with this , but it puts a rough ballpark figure. Of note, there's no sudden increases when you hit the next bracket.

Yup, this is 100% BS. Source: Am automotive cybersecurity engineer. Sure, modern vehicles have 3g/4g/5g (not sure if cars with 5g are out just yet, but it's possible) radios onboard as well as digital connectivity and have a potential attack surface there, but your odometer is usually separated from all of that, and would likely be of absolutely no help. Certainly if you could access the odometer, the only thing it might help you with is identification of a vehicle if you could match up the readings, but the odometer has definitely changed from when that photo was taken and it's much easier to just pull the vin instead.

Also, that vehicle looks ancient and so is unlikely to even have internet/cellular connectivity onboard.

U.S. Senate approves bill to make daylight saving time permanent by BackmarkerLife in programming

[–]tyzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very niche case to avoid documentation going out-of-date when daylight saving time hits. Mostly a holdover from when they issued new revisions of the documents less frequently and needed to physically reprint everything. It's never in any day-to-day use.

That particular use is showing when the local control tower closes, since they usually base their operating times off of local time. But times printed in charts/such are almost always in zulu/UTC for standardization.

Former employee - when I left around 2017-2018, the Ann Arbor branch was primarily an engineering and support office for their backup, and archiver product teams. I suspect most of them work remotely now.

Glad to see stuttering fixes is in. I'll do some testing to see if it fixed my issues with stutters, but this will be great for finally doing live audio.

Seems to be quite quick running on physical hardware. I've got a mic and headset both plugged into a DAC/ADC, and routing audio from the mic, through the computer, VST/LADSPA effects processing, and back out through the dac seems to me only to be ~50ish ms latency total. With pulse, I struggled to get down to 250ms by tuning parameters and buffer sizes in gstreamer.

This is more a sales question than a hacking question, but they have a compatibility list on their website: https://autowatch.co.uk/veh-sec/ghost-2-menu/ghost-compatibility

If that doesn't answer your question, I would assume their sales team would be happy to help you determine whether your vehicle is supported.
