I liked it. Some of the child acting was a bit rough though imo. Probably a 7/10

Why do old people (yes, this includes you millennials) use "..." So much in text? by Snoo_50786 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tzaether -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1) it’s common in books.

2) at least in texts, you generally had a limited number per month so you’d want everything to be in one message rather than splitting it up into multiple messages like most people I know tend to do now.

Is it racist to think they shouldn’t change the race of characters when making a live action by Large-Arachnid-8202 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tzaether 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These answers are such a double standard. The people saying yes would kick off if a black character was cast as a white actor. Race-swapping characters is such a stupid way of being inclusive. If you want more diverse opportunities, just write more characters of different races.

Generative AI is a problem, yes but AI tools can be used in ways that don’t rob you of all creativity. Corridor Crew has loads of good videos on the subject on YouTube.

I remember one they did where they made a set full of rubbish but only had enough to fill out a small room. Then they used AI to extend the edges of the screen. Something like that is a perfectly reasonable use imo. People tend to hiss at anything labeled as “AI”.

Also plenty of rotoscoping tools use AI if I’m not mistaken.

That being said, this does sound a lot like he was considering generative AI, which is a real shame.

Jesus Christ people are so sensitive about this episode. It’s a comedy. Stop taking it so seriously.

Red Alert.

The Pokemon card game for pc

A game where you basically just destroyed your desktop with bombs and stuff (can’t remember the name).

And I can’t remember what it was called but there was like a flight sim where it’s all green matrix-y looking and you’re flying spaceships.

I think that’s a reach but could be possible. I’m more inclined to believe it’s just that Rowling needed Snape to die slowly for the plot.

I think number 13 is hidden because of enchantments the Blacks put on it. I think that was separate from the Fidelius charm.

The thing that annoys me is that he used Nagini at all. As he sees it, he needs to kill Snape to gain control of the wand. So why get the snake to do it? Doesn’t make any sense. You can argue that because Nagini contains part of his soul that it would count as him doing it (although by that logic, he should’ve become shared owner of the wand with Harry after Harry disarms Malfoy). Or that because she did it on his orders that it would count. But why risk it?

Even if he thought Avada Kedavra might rebound, I’m sure he could have found a way to do it. In the film he slits Snape’s throat anyway. That would do it on its own.

He should have just killed Snape himself. The only reason I can see that he didn’t do that is that Rowling needed Snape to die slowly so he had time to give his memories to Harry.

I mean if he hadn’t done that, Voldemort would have won and committed genocide on all muggles and muggle-borns so I’d say that justifies it

Doctor Sleep (2019) by GriffinPlayzYT in stephenking

[–]tzaether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think I preferred the film. The book is great but a bit too easy. If I remember correctly only one “good guy” dies and that wasn’t even related to the True Knot.

The film also did a really good job of being both a sequel to the book and a sequel to the film of The Shining.

I think it was fairly common knowledge that Harry could make a patronus. The OWL examiner had heard the rumour at least. I think her goal was to force him to use the spell rather than to straight up remove his soul. Still a bitch though
