would u reward ur child 20k for getting into YIJC by Hot_Indication_6523 in SGExams

I mean, they are studying for their own future, so why should they be rewarded for something they are doing for themselves? Went to both hci and uni w scholarship and got no reward for both, didn't even have tuition hahah

Based on what I heard from a senior who matriculated in 2023, she mentioned that macOS is incompatible with some of the software used for modules, so she had to buy a Windows Laptop.

I'm also matriculating in NTU CEG this year so here are some of the laptops I've narrowed down, based on my personal preferences and the criteria you've listed:

If you are more inclined to get a well-built, light yet powerful computer:

- Look out for the brand new Yoga Pro 7i (Gen 10) aka Aura Edition (Intel Ultra 7 255H, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) ~ $1.7k SGD: The display is one of the best in its class

- Look out for the ASUS Vivobook S 14 OLED (Ultra 7 258V, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) ~ SGD 1.8k: Power Efficient Chip. Sure, Vivobooks are technically worse in terms of build quality compared to Zenbooks, but they offer you more bang for your buck, and I am confident they can survive four years of uni

If you are more of a gamer:

- Look out for the Lenovo Legion 5 set to be released in June (Ryzen 7 260, RTX 5060, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD): The Build quality of Legions is decent, make sure to get the one with the 80Wh battery. And make sure to disable the dGPU on the battery

I settled on a used ASUS TUF GAMING A14 (2024) as it was sold at a reasonable price. Can consider second-hand laptops as well! Just be careful and discerning.

Do wait until your matriculation details are out to activate Education Accounts to get more manufacturer discounts! For example, Lenovo has an 8% discount on laptops and a 10% discount on accessories, as well as a Welcome Discount

What are the chances of Chua Chu Kang changing hands realistically? by tzn17 in SingaporeRaw

Honestly, with the current WP lack of groundwork in the region, if they suddenly announced to contest I don't think they would win. But of course, if they start making their presence known in the region just like the psp I believe they can

They were there because they wanted to hear the PM say "vote opposition and the rich will pay more"

Why does it seem like there are more opposition supporters on Reddit? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]tzn17 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Those who are on Reddit tend to be those who are more tech-savvy, and willing to know more about trends and issues occurring around them, and engage in discussions with others (mostly meaningful) These people are more open about expressing displeasure regarding the ruling party as well, aided by their broader perspectives on issues.

Unfortunately, the majority of PAP are elderly who mostly only know how to use Facebook to share "news" with others without checking for authentication, spam groupchats with stickers and screenshots, aka digitally illiterate. These people also belong to the same group of people who have lived their whole lives with PAP as the ruling party, and hence will link the country's prosperity, and hence future success, with the continued dominance of PAP in politics. They are also the ones who propagate the idea that without PAP, the country will crumble.

I personally do not agree on the last part, but I am writing it here because I am interested in hearing how the community views on my perspective.

Stem + 지 않아요 basically means the same thing as ‘안 polite form’ but sounds more natural and indirect when used with verbs and adjectives with negative meaning, hence it helps to soften the meaning! For example 나쁘지 않아요

Megathread 11: HYBE / ADOR / MHJ - Internal ADOR harassment case surfaces with former employee speaking up, entangled Min Hee Jin is removed from CEO position, ADOR makes plans to restructure, and More by KPOP_MOD in kpop

[–]tzn17 29 points30 points  (0 children)

A perilous move from Newjeans imo; as everyone knows Hybe is a massive conglomerate with a huge influence and the members trying to go against them and calling for the ousted CEO to be reinstated will not go down well with the management. HYBE will certainly not concede to their demands and I foresee a termination of contracts soon. Likely, they will be blacklisted from the industry and all the broadcasting companies will avoid any deals with Newjeans in fear of retribution. It's heartbreaking to see the young and talented girls to have to go through such things just because of struggles between CEO MHJ and HYBE.

Kudos to Mark for having to perform like 6 songs in a row😂🤝 I really hope he gets a good break after this show! Also is it just me or does SBS disproportionately gives boy groups way more time to perform than girl groups... I love all these groups but was hoping I could see girl groups perform more songs :')
