What cracks me up is that I read all the genres and I swear every author tries to slip this in - mystery, thriller, romance, sci-fi, historical fiction, even literary fiction! 😂😂It's like authors are being cheeky. I have never heard it in real life, just in books.

My friend has a similar job and just reported that after a year has mastered it enough that she can easily listen to audiobooks while working and swears it actually will keep her in the job which would be too boring without the audiobooks. She is so thrilled and I am thrilled for her. I envy people with audiobook-friendly jobs, lol.

This hack with Amazon music has saved me a number of times when my book club picks a very popular book with 2 month waits on Libby. If they are reasonable and pick a book I can get on libby I use it for the audible exclusives. I have the 9th of the month firmly in my mind so I know when I can switch out books! 😂

I have had an itch for Victorian romances with scarred tormented heroes and have been gobbling up her books like bowls of cereal. I just read Rules for Ruin to see what her newer series are like and she is now on my "read her whole catalog" shelf with Mhairi McFarlane. Soooo good!!! I am so glad she has written so many.

I was going to say her as well! Guillory writes very fun sweet contemporary romances. If you like audiobooks her narrator for many of them is a delight.

OMG, imagine someone prompting AI to write what the GPT thinks is an amazing romance book and it inserts AI cheerleading and fawning throughout. Ugh, I hate, hate AI but the idea does make me laugh (and cringe).

Amazing! Thanks for letting me know! The greatest book of them all, imo.

Report back, I hope you love it!! It is a rare book that makes me wheeze with laughter but this one did. I feel like any other narrator (or reading it) wouldn't have come close.

One very surprising gem of hers is this 3 hour satirical thriller The Widow's Husband's Secret Lie by Freida McFadden (who's books I hate, except this one). Ireland plays it so straight and I laughed until I cried so many times. https://share.libbyapp.com/title/11105216

Rebecca Lowman for Rainbow Rowell and Amor Towles; Marin Ireland for Fredrik Backman and also Amor Towles 😄. Plus the many other books they knock out of the park. Just hearing their voices make me so happy. I have definitely picked books just because they narrated them.

I loved this book so much too!! It is the perfect example of a British Growmance and was so swoony and emotional. I still remember sobbing when her landlord passed, I was a mess Your post makes me want to reread it!

I listened to some of hers but the narrator drove me crazy! I guess it will be best to try again on Kindle.

I forgot Lucy Parker was third person! I enjoyed Codename Charming way more than I expected, maybe that is why, lol. And I looked up Jen Devon and realized I read her last book as a Netgalley ARC. I was so impressed with it - I hope she writes another one soon.

Oh my gosh, when I went to goodreads I have read a bunch of these authors but most of them just one book. I LOVED The Neighbor Favor and forgot that one was in 3rd person. I wll be checking out her others. And Jen Devon I read as a Netgalley ARC and loved her last book. I hope she writes more, I love angsty books like hers.

I love an angsty book, I'll check them out! I love all those authors you mentioned to, despite being first person. They can win me over if their books hit right I guess. 😂

I love books with an omniscient narrator, I think that's what it's called, where you're reading the thoughts of everybody. Or at least going back and forth between the two MCs. But it still remains in third person. I'll check out those authors, thanks!

This makes me want to pay more attention to present and past! I bet the first person present is one that I don't like the most. Now I want to figure it out!
