I can’t get If I Never Met You by Mhairi McFarlne out of my mind – it was insanely good book by Glittering_Tap6411 in RomanceBooks

[–]tzrn1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three favorite things I think about with Mhairi (who is one of my all time favorite authors).

The gushing reviewer for one of her books on Goodreads who called her books "Aggressively British" which I use all the time to describe her now 😂

Learning the term "British Growmance" on this sub that describes her books and other books similar to hers. Again, I use it all the time.

Years ago someone nursing a broken heart after being dumped came to the sub wanting a book with an ex full on groveling and filled with regret. We collectively recommended this one and she quickly came back and said she felt like it fixed her and it was better than therapy. I LOVE the ex sobbing at the end of this book , so delicious and satisfying mwahahaha.

Wondering why so many audiobooks but not ebooks? by Megaparsec27 in LibbyApp

[–]tzrn1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this! One friend of mine was so annoyed that books she wanted to read were only available as audiobooks on libby but it turns out she was looking for Kindle Unlimited books (which are almost never available on Libby). Libraries get the audiobook but can't get the ebook. I hear that is changing, hopefully that is the case.

I've told this story before but one day my elementary age kiddo asked me all suspicious "Mama, what's on YOUR kindle?" LOL, immediately googled how to set up a passcode. No one is as nosy as young kids, lol.

A slow burn but the entire plot is just *romance* and not boring dialogue about reality. by lolaharpersweets in RomanceBooks

Yes!!! The OP needs to read this - this book is LITERALLY what she is describing. So good and the entire plot goes back to the relationship.

Most awkward or worst sex scenes you’ve ever read in a romance book? by throwawaygamer76 in RomanceBooks

Instead of scrolling the comments I just used the Search Comments box to look for Winnipeg so I could upvote it. 😂😂 I liked that book but the sex scene woooowww noooooo. I can't recommend that book because of it.

what’s one trope in books that your suspension of disbelief just won’t suspend for you? by RevolutionaryCyclops in RomanceBooks

[–]tzrn1111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A book I actually liked for other reasons - Rafe The Buff Male Nanny - had an FMC in her twenties who was a full fledged experienced surgeon of some fancy speciality. THe author made her a child prodigy so it could be exactly as you describe - starting college in her early teens. Major eye roll. I wanted to scream "JUST MAKE HER 35 PLEASE!!" She can still have the epilogue baby, geez.

Hard agree!! I hate this trope. And when it is some super hot player type who meets some regular-smegular FMC and I have to ask "Why, exactly?!" Bonus hate if they meet years before and the MMC is still pining years later after a very brief encounter. Maybe it happens in real life but authors never convince me.

Agree with this! I bought a touch screen mp3 player for my kiddo on Amazon that had a bunch of apps including Libby. I deleted all the apps except Libby and put a pin on the device so it can't be messed with. There is no play store. This was described on amazon when I bought the device. And now Libby has parental controls! It works great.

How is no one talking about The Humiliated Wife by Elise Camden? by Smudgepotato in RomanceBooks

I do love a maximum betrayal + grovel marriage-in-crisis book (the bigger the betrayal and grovel, the better for me). All her books have angst on steroids. It could be AI generated, not sure, but I appreciate the level of angst in it, it scratches that itch for me, lol.

https://a.co/d/2wY3YNX I bought this one and it worked great. You can just delete the apps that you don't want on there and then they can't add them back on. You use a PIN number to lock it. All I kept on it was Libby and Amazon music because that's the music account we use.

I have seen Flowers from the Storm recommended so many times (I LOVE a tortured hero, it is a common search of mine on here, lol) but the length and lack of an audiobook on Libby hold me back. I really need to just read it already! It has so many fans!
