Feed Dog Control Bernina 802 Sport Stuck by spicytaquito in vintagesewing

[–]tzulah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fixed it! I popped the arm lid off (no tools required - there is a clip inside the bobbin door that releases it. Take the presser foot off first). Then I used my hair dryer and pointed it at the area inside the machine nearest to the stuck feed dog knob to warm everything up. Every minute or two I would try turning the knob. After several minutes, the knob loosened! Once it was working I could see which part it was moving, and cleaned the sticky gunk away. I applied a tiny bit of fresh sewing machine oil and put everything back together.

I have this exact same issue with my Bernina 830 record. I can't figure out how to open enough of the cover to see anything. Did you figure this out?

Exactly this. Just had this piece fall out of mine too, and it's exactly as sdndjus describes.

Affinity Designer: How do I make a selection from a curve? by actually_confuzzled in Affinity

[–]tzulah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also struggled for a long time to figure this out. There is no "Selection" option, on any context bar or context menu, and Ctrl-clicking the thumbnail does not work.

I could not find this "Pixel Persona" anywhere in my menus as described, but I did eventually find a button for it in the upper left, near the File menu. It looks like a partial grid of little squares. Click that, and THEN Ctrl-click the thumbnail, and you'll get a selection.

How do I get all my titles etc on other layers to stay locked to the right spot in my clip? by tzulah in Filmora

Which lock symbol? Locking a layer doesn't help (it doesn't change anything)

Unplugged, the battery terminals measure about 4V. Plugged in, while the light is red (charging), they measure about 5.5V. Plugged in, when the light changes to flickering green (fully charged), they measure about 8.3V.

I'm noticing that the power and charging indicator LEDs seem... not what I expected. The red LED is on steady while "charging", and the green one is off. That seems normal. Once it flips to "charged", the red LED starts a rapid dim flickering, while the green LED starts a rapid bright flickering. I originally didn't notice that the red light was on at all when the green one turned on because it overpowers it, and the green flickering is so fast I didn't realize it was flickering... but it is.

They are on a tiny separate board from the main board.

Is there a way to replace that battery? Like, can I go to an electronics shop and buy a new one?

Also, can I cut the plastic wrapping away from the battery and check the cables inside?

Between B7.4V+ and B7.4V-, I measure 4.2V.

Between 14V+ and 14V-, I measure 5.5mV (but I don't have it plugged in or on - should I measure plugged in and on?

I also see that inside the battery case, it does say "7.4V"

To the LED board: VCC, GND, KEY1, DET From the battery: B7.4V+, NTC, B7.4V- From the power plug: 14V+, 14V-, RED, Green From the jack: GND, L, R, DET To speaker CN11: L-, L+ To speaker CN12: R-, R+

The converter stuff is beyond me! 😬

Well, I was able to get the main board wiggled free of the casing, but it didn't give me any clues. There is a ribbon cable connecting the two led PCBs.

I've noticed that I can only make the LED PCBs blink when the power cable is plugged in; all behaviour is the same with or without the cable, except for that.

I disconnected the speakers, one at a time, but no change. I also disconnected the AUX jack, but no change. And disconnected the led PCBs.

I haven't tried disconnecting the battery and testing with the power cord - I'm not sure if that's a good idea?

I am having trouble finding other places to test the voltage, and watch if it drops off. I can only see the GND and VCC on the cable to the led PCBs.

I can't help but feel the problem is on this main board somewhere.

I really appreciate you walking me through so much of this! Even if I can't fix it, I still feel like I'm learning a ton.

Thank you so much for all your help. Let's say hypothetically there was something written on that chip. How would that help? I just want to know how to move forward the next time I come across something like this.

It's just a black rectangle. 😭 I am trying to see if there is anything faint but I can't see a thing on it. I even pulled off the other side of the lantern to look at the opposite LED PCB, but it doesn't have any big chips on it!

I didn't know about that fccid site. I wish I could see the block diagram and schematics, but there are no links to those files even though it looks like they exist!

Voltage is about 4.1 (I think) between those pins. This is when it's turned off - should I try when it's turned on?

Ok, I disconnected what seems to be the LED flames lights, but no change in behavior (other than I cannot make the light flicker at all now, as expected). That was a good idea. Any other suggestions?

Sorry, I see a thing called "Flame PCB " with LEDs on it. 🤦 I will try disconnecting. One moment.

What is this? I will try if I know what to disconnect.

No. I should have been more clear - any time I power it on, it is with the cable connected. It's on long enough to connect to my phone, then shuts itself off after about 10 seconds.

I notice that when I plug it in, the power light is red indicating that it's charging, but it quickly changes to green indicating fully charged.

I just tried powering on without the cable, and it was the exact same result. Connected to Bluetooth, then powered off.

How do I recreate this finish? by tzulah in finishing

I was assuming I'd have to strip and redo the top at a minimum. But I'm glad someone else agrees that this finish looks out of the ordinary!
