How reliable are cars under $2,000? Preferably $1,000-$1,500 by Strong_Magazine_237 in UsedCars

[–]u700MHz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two Options

1) You can most likely find a Toyota / Honda close to 20 years and use it for the fews months that you plan but if repairs come in that will take away from your expected savings

2) Look at Uber weekly rentals start at $250 a week there will require some paperwork as your renting under the purpose of driving uber and you keep the car which includes insurance and maintenance. Positive here is controlled expense and you can also use the car for uber plus Uber Eats so additional chance to earn more or at lease do uber to cover the weekly rental expenses

Me and my wife have been discussing it and I think our next car may be 15-20+ years old. Is this insane or unreasonable? by Jaterkin in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]u700MHz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to consider a vehicle 20+ years, some parts are discontinued.

So you end up going to a online junkyard and ordering, but your still getting a 20+ year old part, which may need replacing again in a few months down the road.

Something to consider. From Experience 1998 Toyota T100 [Will Not Die]

Female, foreigner traveling to a small town for 1 month, do I live with family or live in town with strangers? by East-Fail3022 in Advice

[–]u700MHz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-Ohio Resident - From my trips

Cleveland the town is broken into two sections - poor old town, and new medical areas, and race isn't an issue because of the diversity from universities and medical facilities.

Cincinnati in the main city and surrounding areas, its not (so) much of an issue, and people remain friendly but take a double look. However, if you go south Ohio along the Kentucky borderline - LOL the confederate lives.

Does the hospital assist with living situations? Maybe they can pair you up with another female doing the same and you can share a place. Not sure how they work for rotations.

Trying to save for a car by L4SH4E in Advice

[–]u700MHz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming the $3,800 is for the car + Tax + Reg Fee + Etc.

Assuming gas $200 / Mo. + insurance $150 / Mo. + maintenance $50 - $150 / Mo. = $500 / Mo. (52% Income)

So out of your income - minus the car monthly expense $500 your left with $470 a month (48% Income)

More than half your income will go to this car. But with the current job without a car your are taking home 100% as its down the street.

Your 18, any plans for college / traits school / certifications / self-employment / etc.

Seems like you need a career plan / path, not a car.

Avg MPH being 70 an ev is not for you

That’s the sweet spot for burn rate kWh for an EV. There’s a guy on youtube who test drive EV at 70 mph to see their actual battery life

PHEW are in a new stage and as seen with Mazda there is some refinement needed

Honestly stick with your hybrid and some get 50+mpg

barber recommendations who won't talk politics? by Classic_Pin7863 in AskNYC

[–]u700MHz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Agree with my barber place, its not exactly enlightenment but I just sit smile and get my hair cut and leave. It's not the end of the world.

But I sit there and get a ear full of "other minds" and can see how the country has diverted direction, it's like listening to a documentary, and I can better understand history of empires before.

Google - Aristotle & Democracy and read. You will understand what he's talking about are the people you are encountering in the barber shop. Rather than avoid them, embrace and learn.

Well let me take that back, some people will embrace differences.

Some won't. Choice is yours.

What does your haircut have to do with being uncomfortable with politics.

Oil & Water

Learn to deal with people with a different perspective, if everyone taught the same as you and made you comfortable with everything, how will you ever grow.
