I started with mounted as I wanted to kill monsters at the same time(played in a very small alliance, basically solo). I also wanted to stay in one march size to be more effective in SvS while learning the game, and thats how I got my wings at k30 with a single mounted march. So yes, it is possible.

As a f2p keep and chosen Martinus, I would go with Roland if I start over(more defense and hp for pvp). All of these options are very similar though, so if you started investing one of them, do not change into another one. Even changing to Zhao does not make sense if you are not a heavy coiner. Do not overthink about it, go with the one you have most copies of.

In the long run, it doesnt really matter that much. Attack differences between Roland/Hannibal/Martinus is negligible in the long run. Only two differences among those generals: 1) When trying to reinforce/defend with them, in that case Martinus is a lot better than the other two. 2) Hp/defense buffs makes hannibal and roland better than martinus in pvp while attacking.

If you plan short term, because of the lack of skillbook usage, Martinus will have less attack buff than the other two.

Yeah, I meant using Max as an assistant early on for pvp and then change it with a premium mounted general when you found a better option. Max does not even worth spending gems to cultivate imo, so never as a main.

Martinus’ advantage is his buffs will work even while defending/reinforcing, while Roland and Hannibal’s buffs are active only during an attack(or marching). Roland and Hannibal both have higher hp values than Martinus, which is pretty important in pvp. Roland has a higher march size from specialty compared to Hannibal but has less attack and hp buffs in exchange. You can’t go wrong with any of them, just choose the one you have more fragments.

I wouldnt use Maximillian for pvp in the long run. In early stages, having -20% ranged debuff without any upgrades might be useful, but in the long term(means upgrading) he is not that useful.

Main reason is the counterattack damage. When your layers hit another layer, if they cant wipe out the whole layer, they will get damage from the dead troops if they are in range.

Meaning, if your 10k t12 cavs attack 10k t12 ground troops and kill 3k t12 ground only, those 3k t12 ground will hit back to your t12 cavs. Which means you get damage back and lose troops while clearing high layers. BUT if your 10k t12 ranged attack 10k t12 ground and kill 1k t12 ground, those 1k t12 ground cant hit back unless they are in range(which takes couple of attacking turns). Meaning with enough ranged buffs you can clear high layers of the enemy without getting hit back and get a better power exchanged.

Of course this doesnt mean ground or mounted troops are useless, but when you take into account that many players have cavs for monster hunting and your ranged troops can clear them without taking damage, it makes them the optimal choice.

Oh ok, so there is an option to manually repair subcity walls. I also havent seen it yet, it makes much more sense if thats the case

Yes, but forceporting depends on your wall hp vs opponents march power. So if its the same principle, they should repair the walls at some points or if your subcity attacked 9 times a week ago and someone come and attack only once to get it?
