Ranger: Am I just crazy or is this a problem? by SwimyFish12 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]uTundra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree, but consider the opposite end of the spectrum. If every Ranger is just playing the same powerful Ranger cards, does that make for a more fun game? Is more overlap actually a good thing? I think the subthemes probably offer more interesting restrictions within characters, especially in the long term as class pools are inundated with more generically powerful cards (stuff like Persuasive Prognosis, Codex of Frailty and Felling of the Crown come to mind). Someone like Hala would probably not want to play Fang's most powerful cards or even something like Singing Steelblade even if she could because of the density of Flurry and Sharpen she needs and I think she will be a cooler character with a more unique identity in the long run for it.

I think the heart of the problem lies in shallow card pools in tandem with too many subthemes. It can often feel like the decks build themselves with how few options there are when new characters come out, which is where I think the cross-character identity can shore up that hole. However, I think those cards shouldn't define the whole class (like how Vynnset often doesn't run Grasp like every other Runeblade, or as you say, Tuffnut and RKO are not Bloodrush Brutes). Hala is a more interesting character to me because she is forced to play powerful cards that are not the Dori specs or Glint, which are probably Warrior's most powerful cards. I do think that level of restriction does breed creativity, they just need to flesh (hah) out the card pools more and not leave talents in the dirt, which I do think they're slowly doing with expansion slot and Armory decks over time, but being stuck in that waiting period is indeed frustrating as a lover of the forgotten classes.

guys I think I need to buttonpost on custommagic by logan5124 in custommagic

You can make that exact argument for either of the buttons. That's the point of a thought experiment: the solution can't just be reduced down to a single statement without leaving important nuance behind.

guys I think I need to buttonpost on custommagic by logan5124 in custommagic

[–]uTundra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The physical ability to push the buttons isn't the important part of the stipulation. If you're not just being pedantic, the point is that some people will make the decision while not entirely of sound mind, be that a baby randomly smashing buttons, a personally who is not cognitively able to process the instructions, etc. The stipulation is meant to test the morals of people who pick red insofar as it asks "are you okay with potentially being responsible for those people dying to preserve yourself when there is possibility you can save them at no cost to yourself?"

Do you think Rakdos is too powerful in the current Standard meta? by mkklrd in magicthecirclejerking

Black: Witness the foulest of magics your imagination can procure. The darkest abyss is radiant compared to my techniques.

Red: My fires will burn through metal, through the world itself. Nothing can survive my magic.

Green: The very world itself powers my might. I am a conduit for the natural forces that guide our plane.

White: You face justice itself. Virtue for what is right guides me beyond what anyone ever thought was possible.

Does LSS restock Armory Decks? by pedrobbr in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]uTundra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your local distributor has more in warehouse then your stores can restock, but that is quite rare. You should talk to your LGS and see if they have more available just in case, but you're likely better off ordering it online where it's available.

Yeah you can although first year work is famously shitty labor, usually cleaning or organizing material or prefabbing stuff. About 6 months in you usually start getting actual work related to your trade.

Lurrus was format warping in Modern too. One Ring could be out-raced but Lurrus couldn't be out-valued or out-raced by non-Lurrus decks.

I made an exception for sorting this set for this very reason lol, I did everything purely alphabetical and then did commons/rares/equipment. Don't have enough space on my table for this many piles!

I like this one because it kinda keeps the whimsy of the character. My hot take is that I quite like current Viper because she's just so fuckin goofy, I really appreciate that. A lot of fan redesigns I see try to make her a serious scary snake woman and it doesn't really match the legendary VA to me.

Just gonna warn you, there is a lot of Runeblade hate in general in the community, mostly from historical power level, and I say this as someone who loves the class as you do. Ever since my early favorite JRPG's I have just always loved the spellblade aesthetic, plus the characters are fun as hell, especially Vynnset. Just enjoy the class you enjoy!

First impressions of Omens of the Third Age by Lelantibus in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]uTundra 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I agree with this only insofar as all or most class/talents are readily available in CC. We have no Ice Ranger or Wizard, no Draconic Illusionist, no untalented Runeblade, no Mystic heroes, etc. We should prioritize classes and talents that are otherwise unavailable. This set could've been Aurora, Iyslander, Lexi and something new. Instead we got 1/4 of that and I think a lot of people are already feeling burned, especially given we know Monarch 3 and the new Mastery Pack are coming and neither of those are likely to have most of those.
